Product Description

The KOKODA 7 DAY TREK, Owers’ Cnr to Kokoda is designed for the trekkers are wanting the challenge of walking the track in a shorter time frame. We understand the need for a cultural experience as well as learning more about the history of the war campaign.

Day 1: Owers’ Corner to Ioribaiwa Village

The trek commences with your first descent down to Goldie River followed by your first climb up to Imita Ridge. Upon reaching the top of Imita Ridge it is another long descent down to Ua’Ule Creek followed by numerous creek crossings before a tough climb up Ioribaiwa Ridge to Ioribaiwa Village where you will spend the night. This is the point during World War II where the Japanese retreated.
Day 2: Ioribaiwa Village to Agulogo
Today there will be a steep descent down to Ofi Creek where we will refill our water bottles for a steep couple of hours climb up Maguli Range before we reach Nauro Village. After a short break we will continue our walk until we reach Agulogo campsite where we will stop for the night.
Day 3: Agulogo to Naduri
After leaving Agulogo we will trek towards Brown River where we will cross with care as the river can be high depending on the rainfall they have
experienced in that area. You will need to refill your water bottles for your next climb up Brigade Hill. At the top of Brigade Hill you will have a chance to take in some of the scenery from the lookout. After a short break we will then descend down to Efogi Village the half way point. At this point you should feel proud of yourself as you reflect back on what you have experienced and to know you are half way across the track!
Day 4: Efogi to Templeton’s Crossing II
Today will begin with a climb up to Efogi 2 another small village. This is followed by a steep descent to the first creek crossing of the day. We then start to climb up to the village of Naduri followed by another climb up to 1900/Myola Junction. Another alternative route is to head up to Kagi followed by a climb up to 1900. Some of our treks go via Naduri and some via Kagi. After reaching 1900 we will continue our climb up to Mt Bellamy, the highest point on the Kokoda Track before descending down to Templeton’s Crossing II. Weather permitting at Mt Bellamy we will be able to look down as far as the Kokoda Station. We will continue to trek until we reach Templeton’s Crossing II where we will camp for the night.
Day 5: Templeton’s Crossing II to Isurava Memorial:
From Templeton’s Crossing II we will climb before descending down to Eora Creek. After morning tea, we will cross Eora Creek followed by an easy climb up to Alola Village where we will stop for lunch. After lunch we will continue our walk until we reach Isurava Memorial area. For the majority of us, this will be an emotional experience having walked the track for the past few days and then turn the corner into Isurava to a magnificent view and another photograph opportunity with the monument as a background. Also time to reflect on the past and pay our respect to the World War II and the many fallen soldiers who so tragically lost their lives in this area. We will spend the night here before walking off the track the next day into Kokoda.
Day 6: Isurava Memorial to Kokoda
This is our last day of trekking and an exciting time for all as the finish line is not that far away and the whole group is excited. We will have a few descents and climbs before reaching Hoi Village. After Hoi we will continue walking towards the archway in Kokoda. When we reach the Kokoda Archway, photographs will be taken to celebrate our successful trek. Once in Kokoda you will have the chance to take a break at the Kokoda Station and to visit the Kokoda Museum and historical memorial area.
Day 7: Popondetta then to Port Moresby
This morning you will be driven down to Popondetta to catch your Dash 8 flight back to Port Moresby. On arrival in Port Moresby you will be met by a representative from Kokoda Trekking where you be returned to our accommodation for a well earned rest.

You will receive a ‘Certification of Completion’ and a ‘Kokoda Trekking T/Shirt’ at the end of your trek.

Congratulations! You and your fellow trekkers have just completed one of our most popular treks – that has allowed you to take in the most beautiful scenery along the way at a more relaxed pace. Along the track, you will have climbed and descended more than 10,000 meters. Well done – you are now part of an elite group of individuals to have experienced the Kokoda Track.
