MemberThanks BM,
I am reasonable confident and with the guards I think I have a 50 50 chance –doing 4 to 5 hour sessions on our highest peaks and alls well to date—I guess the issue is what the track is actually like and I suppose the only way i will really find out is go–and i will. But thanks very much for the response and advice.
My physio said the guards will start to smell after 2 or 3 days but from what I have read that will be the least of my problems—it sounds like a case of who cares just keep going!!!

MemberQUOTE(Waza @ 20 Jan 2005, 06:41 PM) Hi KrisaustWhilst I'm no expert but I would advise to perservere with your boots but ensure they are laced up firmly and that your socks are not loose.
Additionally you can toughen up your feet by
a) walking barefeet as often as you canwalking/running on beach sand as often as you can, hard or soft
c) soaking your feet in methoWear your boots everywhere you can, work/fashion permitting of course.
I'm walking the Track in April and I'm have been using mine on mountain walks for a couple of months. Carry band-aids with you and use them as soon as you feel a section of skin starting to rub, if not you will end up with another 50c.
Good luck and keep in touch.
