I agree with Rocky, wet weather gear is a waste of time,,,,we had no wet days at all but my clothes were soaked from sweat from day one.KEEP YOUR FEET DRY.

There was a concrete water tank just next to the car park in the camping area, not sure if its full or not,it looked pretty old.The toilet there is worse than anything you'll see in PNG.Ive been there a few times and the car park is always full but the camping area was just about empty, one or two tents.

they cost from $50 to $300 and weigh about as much as a ipod,,but its just more junk to carry.A note book is better.

you ever thought of getting a little hard drive voice recorder,,there cheap enough and very small. While your on the track see if my old boots are still on the log a couple of hours out of Goldie River.

Hi Fluppy.2 of the girls on our trek kept journals. You normally stop for morning tea, lunch and maybe afternoon tea, so theres time to jot down a few notes.

Ive had one of those Deuter packs for quite a while,,,but got it for about $300 from Annaconda on special.I carried it myself on Kokoda and found it to be very comfortable and water tight even without the rain cover on.The rain cover on the Deuter pack is rolled up and tucked away at the bottom of the pack in its own zippered compartment. It is…[Read more]

I agree with the above as well,,,larger boots are a no no.Breathable boots are good, but Kokoda is way too wet for them and your boots wont dry out. It took 4 days to dry a single pair of socks that were hanging off my pack, its just too humid and you are beneath the jungle canopy and not in direct sunlight for very long.Water proof boots will…[Read more]
