I wouldnt worry to much about customs in PNG,no trekkers on our flight had their gear searched, and if they were the customs guys know what you need for your trek so there hardly likely to take…[Read more]

We stayed at the Gateway , it has places to leave your gear which are secure.Im sure all of the hotels are set up in the same way as most of their guests would be trekkers.

Hi Fluppy. At the Gateway you leave all your small stuff such as wallets passports etc etc in the safe, it goes into a big envelope with your name on it. All of your other stuff such as luggage and other big stuff goes into a secure room which is locked and only a couple of people have keys too.One of the guys on our trek took his passport on the…[Read more]

The fish was probably washed up and eaten by a pig who promptly dropped dead and was found shortly after by a villager who…[Read more]

I would'nt panic. Its not like you'll lose all your fitness overnight. On the last few weeks before our trek we just did some long slow walks to avoid injury. You'll be ok.

Ha Fluppy. When your having wash in some of the NG rivers, have a look at how many tadpoles there are.It reminded me of when I was a kid. There are 100's of them floating about in the water. We dont see many in Sydney anymore, they must have all swum north.

you should contact your trekking company and see what they issue in their daily ration packs.KTL rat packs had so much food as well as snacks that we couldnt eat it all and didnt need all the extras we took.
