Yesterday on the radio I listened to an 83 year old who finished the track last friday tell of His experience. He'd been training properly for a year and had no trouble at all. He said,,"it was bloody hard",,,, good on Him.

I would say that walking from Kokoda to Owers Corner would be a bit easier. Plus you get to finish your trek beneath those great arches. As fas as a guide. We went with local guys through KTL and would do it again, those guys are just great.

When I was on the track only 2 1/2 months ago I saw many people who looked like they didnt belong there having a great old time.Im 53 and there were people a lot older than myself and a bit heavier than myself just ambling along with their porters. They all got through. I'd hate to see people who look they cant do it, getting stopped from doing…[Read more]

They dont normally care about medications for walking the track as every trekker carries prescriptions drugs. We got told this by the nice lady at PNG customs .Its just as well because we never thought about a letter from our Dr and we were carrying antibiotics and a few other odds and ends.

I'd be seeing a chiropodist and getting a specialists opinion on your corn. My dad used to slice them off with a razor blade (oh god) .Ask him for a quick fix that will get you out of trouble for a short time while you are in PNG.Maybe my dad could come over with his razor blade !!!!!

peterh13 replied to the topic Hi in the forum Introduction 16 years, 10 months ago

You wont need metho over there .Metho is good to rub on your feet for a few weeks before you go,it toughens your feet up.If you drink metho you'll grt blue lips,,,not a good look for a young lady.Like rocky I put sports blister packs on a blister on my heal, then I put some 2" duct tape over it and it lasted the whole trip.
