G'day lornai walked last july, there is plenty of water but i was worried about getting the runs so i always sterilised!! i carried 2x 1ltre bottles on the side of my pack. G'dayall great advice. One thing i did not do but another more experienced trekker done was purchased a very large,super heavy duty plastic bag from a camping store. He placed that in the inside of his back pack so it lined the entire inside. So when he unzipped the top of his back pack, he opened this bag and placed every thing in side it .…[Read more]

G'dayJust a thoght i had, I believe that the land is owned bythe local villagers and each time you camp a fee mustbe paid. This is arranged by the trekking companiesand paid for as part of the package. Maybe some onecan tell me if i am correct. G'dayi noticed no one has responded to you yet. I have only walked the trackonce (so Far) but booked in with an established trek company. They usuallysupply your sleeping gear, rations and anything else you may need. G'dayI have only walked the track once(so Far)and flew to Kokoda and walked back to ower's Corner. Every body tells me it isvery tough either way you go.As for trekking companies i believe itis probably a bit more expensive if you have an Australian Guide. Worth checking outcheerSmikmac
