Make sure you have a comfortable pillow or something you can make in to one. I think everyone on our trek who didn't found it very difficult to sleep. To me that was more important than your mattress.

All you need is one pair of boardshorts (they dry quicker, and you will sweat heaps and there are rivers to swim in). I carried my own pack and got caught out a bit as i hadn't done enough training with it on. Make sure you do some hill climbing with about 10 kgs in your pack – that's around about what mine weighed and it would be hard to make it any lighter.The main problem i found though was not the weight – you get used to that – it was trying to retain my…[Read more]

I completed the track on Sunday and i feel that during the dry season all you need is a comfortable pair of boots or runners that you're used to. However we were lucky that it didn't rain at all as it would become boggy and slippery if it did. We saw one bloke with footy boots on!
