Corks? Thats an Aussie myth isn`t it. Seriously though – Flies are not a problem on the track. Aside from a few places – neither are mozzies.

Hi Austin. At the moment I am pretty much focused on fitness and core strength. After reading Gails little spiel on the rigours of the Trek I upped my training level quite a bit.I will stop in three weeks time to give me a weeks rest before the trek.

Slept on it the other nite. Very quickly realised that it should be about half inflated for best comfort.

I assume that PNG has a GSM network available that we could purchase some throwaway SIM cards for whilst in the City area?

Hmmm – come to think if it – so did mine (yesterday), but hasn`t since. Weird. The site is definitely legit as I`ve ordered a few things from the place and it`s been turning up.This is the manufacturers link – Link.

My pack arrived today – so I can start training with it.On knees. There is an article in this months Mens Health mag that deals with strengthening knees. I also am finding that the Glucosamine and Fish oil supps are taking the cracking sounds out of my knees.

jafa replied to the topic What Is Average Time Spent Perparing For Trek? in the forum Trek Preparation 17 years, 10 months ago

Well – I guess it really depends on your starting level of fitness. I`m 38 – and I gave myself 3 months. To be quite honest – after a month of training (and alot of that high cardio) I reckon I could go now with few problems.I have another two months before my trek.

jafa replied to the topic Video Cameras in the forum Trek Preparation 17 years, 11 months ago

Whilst it wont compare to a video camera – I`m taking a canon ixus i. Small – light and compact with a retractable lens that will do video. And not that I`m going to spend the trip listening to slamming music – I`m taking one of these along as well. Cheap to the point that if it gets damaged – I wont shed any tears.

Hi Gail.Just wondering – how do you guys get all these photos out whilst on the trek.Editors Note: The photographs are in my database and I go through and find one that suits wherever the trekkers are at the time I am writing about their trek.
