    Hi Arod

I live ar Beerwah and did quite a lot of my training in that area. plus the walk from Baroon Pocket Dam to Kondalilla Falls. 20km return.
I found Mt Beerburrum a good stamina builder.

If you need any info on the track itself send me an e-mail.

    Good luck

Hi Gail. Great to see that Kokoda Air strip is open again. I bet the trekkers were excited about their trek. Wonder how they will feel after the first day. hehe

My sincere condolences to all you guys and to Russell's family.

The first night of our trek in 2007 was the best. The family really looked after us.

Hi Guys. Having trekked myself in 2007 The experience learned was invaluable.

The feeling at the end of the track cannot be described. I felt honoured to have walked in the footsteps of so many young aussies.

I feel for the families and friends of those who died in this accident. But would say to those who are still looking at walking the "Bloody Track" Go for it.

    The experience reallyis life changing.

To all at KTL, my thoughts and best wishes go out to you all.

Hi Mrs Moo. we finished our trek on 23 May this year. We had our own packs. Decided to keep them for the future. We are all going to trek again. I am late 59, and used a porter. My daughter and son in law, mid 30's, 1 porter and my son in law carried part of his own pack. It is a very hard slog. Very, very steep in lots of places. I guess if you want to really enjoy the trek, pay for a porter, if you want to test yourself, carry it all. Remember when training carry at least 3 litres of water, that is what you will need on the track. I can honestly say, we all enjoyed the trek, even though it was a real test of stamina and you mind over matter with the very streep climbs.
I am heading out again in May 2009, I have a heap of friends who are now interested in doing the trek.

Are you going from kokoda or from Owers Corner.

If you have any questions you can e-mail me at: alfwo1@optusnet.com.au

I will be glad to answer.

Remember that we in Australia zig zag up hills, in PNG they head straight up.

    Regards

    HI ANNA

I AM ALSO EX ARMY, BEEN RETIRED NOW FOR 16 YEARS.

I AM DOING THE TREK NEXT MAY 2007.
WE LIVE UP AT BEERWAH IN THE GLASSHOUSE MOUNTAINS AREA AND HAVE THE IDEAL TRAINING AREA. MT COOLUM, MT NGUNGUNG, AND MT BEERBURRUM, ALSO WALKS AROUND THE GLASSGOUSE MOUNTAINS THEMSELVES.

WE ARE ALSO GOING TO CHECK OUT THE "KOKODA" WALK AT MT COOT-THA, I BELIEVE IT STARTS SOMEWHERE NEAR CHANNEL 9.

I STARTED TRAINING 4 MONTHS AGO AND AM SURPRISED HOW QUICK MY LEVEL OF FITNESS GROWING. WE WALK ONE OF THE MOUNTAINS AT LEAST EVERY SECOND WEEK END. I ALSO HAVE A STEPPER, TREADMILL AND EXERCISE BIKE.

I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THAT I AM FINDING THE TRAINING BETTER THAN WHEN I WASI N THE ARMY, THE INCENTIVE IS FAR BETTER.
