Glad to hear that you had such an amazing time and that you arrived back safely. I told you it was a life changing experience!! Hopefully you were able to notice a few of the places mentioned in my journal. Merry Christmas. Libby

Hi I did the track in 2006 and kept a journal – religiously. My two sons and I spent two months in PNG so i had a lot to write about. When I got back to Australia it took me six weeks to type and complete the journal with photos, entries, etc. I had it copied and bound at Officeworks and now I lend it to people that are about to walk the track and want an inside view. It is well worth the effort.

    Dear Gail,
On behalf of Alexander, Alistair and myself, please pass on our condolences to the Eroro family. Ross was our porter in October 2006, and we stayed for a few days at Rustys before Ross and John Derek travelled with us on the PMV to Popendetta. I also went to church with their father Emmanuel walking all the way. What wonderful conversations we had to pass the time. I remember them being the most loving, hospitable family, welcoming us into their lives. It is a terrible tragedy. We have heard nothing about the PNG families here in Australia which is upsetting but I knew that you would be on the ball. Thank you for this.

Actually my two sons and I stayed at the Lutheran Guest House in Hohola. The rooms were clean and tidy and you get to mix with the Nationals although there were Australians there when we stayed. Joanne the manageress is strict and her relative Peter will take you where you have to go. I seem to remember it being about 20 minutes to the Gateway. The rates were very reasonable and they are in the phone book. Libby
