Update 5:30pm 17th July: Sorry have not heard from the track today but have just returned home after picking Warrick up and dropping him at the Gateway Hotel. Before jumping on the phone to call him, we were advised their phones lines are not presently working. He has just booked in there for tonight and will think tomorrow whether or not he will continue staying there.

He is looking great! Tomorrow we will pick him up from the hotel at 9:30 to take him back for a review. If and when their phones are working you can call him on the following number:

    Gateway Hotel: +675 327 8100

    Hey Luke,

Sorry to hear about Wozza, we know how disappointed he must have been. Glad to hear you are back on track. Stay safe, enjoy yorself, we are all thinking of you. Speak with you when you return.

    Hi Mark & Mick,

Update 18th July: We received a sat phone call around midday today informing us that they spent the night at Efogi and today were pushing down to Eora Creek where they would spend the night.

Mick it seems will have to dig deep as he has been vomiting but they are close to the finish line now so doubt he will give up.

Tomorrow the plan is to walk out to Kokoda and overnight at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat and return to Port Moresby on Monday morning.

As for Warrick, I picked him up this morning and he went for a review at the doctor's clinic and is ok. He still feels like catching up on some sleep so with rest I am sure he will bounce back. Today he was looking and sounding much better then when I saw him yesterday so all is well but naturally he is disappointed and is already talking about coming back but next time hiring a personal porter.

Up Date 16th July: We heard from Tony the trek guide today to say that he is at Maguli Range area with Luke and Warrick and that the others have gone ahead and should have reached Naoro or Agulogo with the other guys, porters and assistant guide Cyprian Haera.

Turns out Warrick has been struggling and him and Luke will spend the night near Maguli Ridge and have set up camp for the night.

Everyone else is powering along and doing quite well.

Since writing the above comments we have since heard that the group have stopped at Naoro to give Luke, Tony and the other porter a chance of catching the group tomorrow as Warrick has decided to call it a day and will be air lifted off the track around 6:30am tomorrow morning weather permitting.

    Photographs: Naoro and surrounding area.

    To Mark Salmon

    Hi Mark,

We are all glad to hear you have commenced your trek and are doing well. The photos posted on the site look fantastic and am sure some of the scenery is beautiful. How are you and Mick? We are all well at home, Harry is improving each day, he reached a couple of milestones today – he is sitting up by himself and rolling continuously from one end of the rug to the other. Ruby is great and cannot control her excitement with her impending stay with her cousins. Safe journey and look forward to hearing how you are all progressing. Love Marg, Ruby and Harry xxxx
