Unless of course the "bridge" gets washed away. We crossed Iora Creek in January…no bridge and lots of white water! Amazing guide and porters got us across, but it was a hair-raising, neck deep, legs washed out from under you experience. Listen carefully to your guides, and follow their instructions.

In January, prepare to be wet a lot of the time. The mozzies were not so bad until we got closer to Port Moresby. We found our self-inflating mats and sleeping bags to be just fine, and most of the time slept in the huts. We did use our tent twice though.

The toilets are not THAT bad. We came off the track just over a month ago. Sure…if you're expecting flushing toilets and wash basins all the way along the track, you'll be in for a bit of a shock. It's holes on the ground except for the flushing one at Orohaven. We didn't get ill at all while we were away. Be sensible…clean your hands after going, and clean your hands before eating. If all your fellow trekkers follow the same rules, you will be fine.

It's been just over 6 weeks since Kim and I walked into Ower's Corner to complete our trek!!
It's taken a while for our achievement to really sink in. I had an amazing time!

A huge thanks has to go to Dudley, Brendan, Frank, Cyprian and Andrew. They made our experience a really wonderful one. They were there for us every step of the way, and despite our (quite scary) crossing of Iora Creek, made me feel completely safe the entire time. These guys are truly amazing….I'm never going to forget this experience.

Thanks to Gail and KTL for making this a memorable experience
