Trekkers left Orohaven Kokoda Retreat around 7am yesterday. We received news later in the day that they were heading to Isurava Village to spend the night.All was well and everyone was doing ok.Photograph: Huts at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat Huts.jpg

Trekkers are on the move and decided to commence walking straight away today rather then rest at Orohaven and walk tomorrow. Their guide is Kingsley Boropi who called us from Kovelo saying they planned on stopping at Isurava Village to spend the night. Unfortunately, this morning they were down for an early departure to head out to Popondetta so were up around 3am to prepare and drive back down to Port Moresby for their flight. In July we also commenced building an outdoor bar area at Kokoda for guests and local people of Kokoda. This was also a very sad time for Kokoda Trekking as Russell and John Eroro lost their brother Kingsley in the same accident and a plaque was also placed on this wall as our contribution to his memory. In July we were approached by a family who lost their daughter in the plane crash for an area where they could put a plaque in Kokoda in honour of the beloved daughter. On Saturday 23rd October Sunbird Aviation made its first trip into Efogi when Michael Butler did a food drop on behalf of Adventure Kokoda. Later in the morning Michael had to fly to Popondetta for a medevac. Unfortunately the archway was not constructed as planned as a shipping container they were expecting from Lae failed to show up, hence everything has been postponed to another time. Met up with trekkers earlier today and later dropped Rachael at the airport when she headed for Brisbane. Thomas is spending another night here and will head off tomorrow. Tonight Rachael has the double bed to herself and her personal porter Lila is also sleeping in the same hut with her. No doubt it will be a lot more comfortable compared to sleeping on her mat on the track.DSCF1617__640x480_.JPG

Trekkers reached Kokoda before midday and are now relaxing at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat. I tried to post earlier on but my internet was down.
