MemberWow! What an incredible story! Took me just over an hour to read it, but well worth the read! I know this trek was done many years ago now, but I always like reading people's accounts of their journey across the Kokoda Track. Very descriptive, easy to read. Love the bit about the snake lol! Also love the bit about how other trekkers helped each other – like how Nathan helped Tom across the bridge with the stick. Very well written and bringing back soooo many memories from my own trek to Kokoda in October 2009.

MemberCannot stress how invaluable I found this information to be when we trekked Kokoda. For those looking at trekking, print these out!

MemberA Legend. Got that right.
If anyone on here was fortunate enough to meet Stan and talk to him about his Kokoda experiences and about his brother 'Butch' Bissett, blessed were you to be able to do that.
I am grateful that Stan was able to share his experiences and know that the men of Kokoda – himself included – were not – nor ever will be – forgotten. Lest We Forget.
My condolences go out to his family and friends
RIP Stan.

MemberGail – you have done a terrific job of local ration packs. Stan Bisset said it all when he said, '…no matter what they eat on the track they are eating a damn site better then the 2/14th.'

MemberThanks Rocky – link is fantastic
He said his knees were hurting just walking around today at work. I wonder if he'll let me go to Kokoda without him…

MemberThat sounds great Mike – sounds like a big task – but well worth the effort. I say go for it!
Also perhaps you could create your own anthology of poems – put them on your computer (if you haven't done so already), print them out & put them in a display folder with a cover page & a table of contents/index. You have so many that maybe you could divide them up into volumes (Volumes I, II & III etc) – a different colour folder for each volume.

Member"On the tree is a laminated picture of the mountain guns used…..so if this the same area I dont think this has been a great secret. I have photos of the weapon pits, connected with tunnels, ammunition piles, and other war relics. In fact the locals have a good setup which they charge 5 kina to look at the area."
Crowie – I know the place you are talking about – as we paid the 5 kina to go and see the site. Plus the laminated picture of the mountain guns etc – we have photos of these too. I am not sure it is the same lost battle site of Eora Creek though…
Could anyone confirm this – if it is indeed the same site?
