All the guys on the trek acheived their own personal goals.

The advice I was given, is below…
"It only takes one Bite to get Malaria",
So I you are Unlucky you may just get bitten once in PNG,
but you never know. It may be the only bad mossie on the track…..My advice (suggestion) … Get Malaria medication before you leave.
I was given a small prescribed test dose of doxi.
I did not suffer any problems. So when I go I will be using
that type. Not all medications are the same, and most have
some side effects on different people. Check it out before you go.Nothing is perfect, so use medication and Insect repellant and cover both bases.

MemberYou cant go wrong with
One Planet, Macpac or WE Wilderness Equipment. The only problem is the price, but for a bomb proof packs
these are the ones. THese will set you back from 300 to 500 dollars
depending on what model etc.My Mate has a "Outer limits" pack. During the training IT appears to be
hold up really well.PS THe one Planet are the only one now made in Aussie.
Macpac and WE have gone overseas to Asia, but the quaility appears ok – So far.
I have a WE pack.

MemberThanks,
For the advice.
I think I will just use the fires, and have the caffine hits in the morning and evening.
Even walking in the back blocks of lamington I sweat like a ?????,
I still enjoy the odd brew.It is a different concept from the Bans on fires here in Aust…

MemberDoes any body know about fuel.
I am wondering If we need fuel stoves for the track. I like a cuppa – or coffe while walking.
I see no mention of stoves and cooking equipement in the gear to bring.
SO I am Wondering !!!!Lastly if I take a stove were can I get fuel – (Metho or Heximine blocks).
I would understand that gas canisters would be hard to get, and you are
not supposed to fly with the stuff.Regards
