Hi I have received a copy of Mike's DVD yes it is an amateur one just as mine would be if I ever make one, has a litle too fast panning but has some differences to other also great DVDs that I have viewed. This DVD would be great particularly for anyone trekking from Kokoda to Owers Corner for unlike some other DVDs it provides detailed and…[Read more]

HiWhilst I am have not trekked yet I will be in September Trek 435 all I can say is that I found KTL to be most helpful and thier web site and comments within it would certainly back this up.I have been in touch with quite a few whilst doing my research some have trekked more than once who on thier first trek did so with another company but on…[Read more]

Unfortunately Columbus Direct no good for me as they do not insure those over 65 years old.Looks like I have found, yet a couple of others that do, but yet to check them out as to what they cover, both do not appear too expensive.Brian

Hi againWas hoping to have heard by now from an Ex Trekker as to what suitable insurance company they may have used one that does cover evacuation the couple I checked out did not appear to have an evacuation clause although it well may have been in the small print.Being 70 when I walk and whilst a fit 70 at my age whilst I do not expect it to be…[Read more]

Hi GeofI like to think that I am a practical greenie we do at least try where ever possible but unfortunately there are those that do not even here.I am going in September and I am sure that I am going to want to wash, using soap, as much as anyone else if it only to be fresh at nights.During the drought we have used special washing powder for our…[Read more]

Hi KhorrPlease read my earlier reply to your first message please reconsider your possible trip to PNG/Kokoda as what you are suggesting solo would be unsafe and whilst you will not like to hear this foolish to take with out suitable trekkiing gear and boots etc.Go with a group but not solo as you are planning.Brian

Hi KhorrFrom my own research in the main from chatting to those who have walked the track and whilst it will not be want you want to hear it would not only be unsafe but I feel foolish to undertake the track firstly by yourself more so with no or little money to get to Owers Corner and back again to Port Moresby after the walk you just cannot…[Read more]
