Good on you all, you lucky younger people. Although I certainly cannot complain as my life so far and will be the same into the future has been full of adventures and interesting diversions along the way, including Antartica.Sure great to see people who are able to do so getting out and about as there are those who can who never do until they…[Read more]

I was extremely lucky to trek Kokoda when I did as my health is not so good at present and trekking Kokoda would be out of the question.Have to get back into it again very soon as I am leading a NPAQ walk next month. Whilst I have another hospital visit before we do so we are heading off on 5-6 month round Australia "Grey Nomad" trip in May I am…[Read more]

I would imagine that unless you want to travel to Popondetta to fly back to Moresby the mode of transport from Kokoda itself has not changed.

As long as you can find a seat of any sort to use them on, cannot see them being much good for the many holes in the ground.Just grit your teeth, hold your breath and go for it.All part of the Kokoda experience and I think if we checked all through the forum from start to finish perhaps the subject most talked aboutBrian

Peter you mentioned 70 odd with the group you bumped into this is ridiculous not right in my opinion certainly not good for the track and the village "facilities" that they pass through. They the trekking company are only in it for the dollar obviously with no real interest at all in preserving the track etc. We had 15 including porters on our…[Read more]

Whilst I largely agree with the last two posts. My own personal experience is that I found every effort was taken by the company that I trekked for my personal safety and I would on safety grounds have no hesitation in recommending this particular company. I am well aware that there are certainly "Cowboys" out there that are not taking such…[Read more]

Whilst not hospitalised I was confined to my hotel room where I was visited a couple of time by a local doctor, my return was delayed for a week,…[Read more]

HiAnd those trees in the right spot on the Kokoda track well may just not be where you want them.Remember also that every bit of the land along the track is owned by someone sounds silly but that is a fact, where you hang your hammock maybe on someone Else's patch to where the rest of the group are and you may have to pay for use of that…[Read more]
