Trek 1180: Trekkers seen here at the Gateway Hotel at a briefing.

Update 9th July 2019

Trek 1180: Big day for this group today as they were up early to catch thier charter flight to Kokoda. This was followed by a hard day of walking as when I last spoke to Pat Vainerere their guide, they were at Deniki and heading to Isurava Village for the night. Pat said the group had made good progress today. Trekkers on this trek are: Brendon Cairns; Ross Abraham; Bronson Blackmore; Bradley Whittington; Jeffrey Duthie; Josiah Wall; Martin I’Anson; Nathan Cartledge; Lachlan Jones; Miles Paludan; Jason Webb; Luke Nucifora; Ben Connolly; Marshall Andersen and Michael Lalli.

Update 10th July 2019

Trek 1180: The group have pulled up for the night at Templeton’s Crossing and tomorrow will head to Efogi. With the exception of Bronson who had a tough day, trekkers were at the campsite by 5pm. Bronson arrived around 6pm. These guys have set themselves quite a pace as they move across the track. All are ok at this stage.

Update 11th July 2019

Trek 1180: This trek has now reached the half way point of Efogi. Am yet to hear from Pat Vainerere their guide but I checked on our GPS link which stated 17:58 that it stopped recording for the day.

Update 12th July 2019

Trek 1180: Pat called to report that they are now at Nauro Village and are all ok. He informed me there is a lead group of about 10 out the front arriving ahead of the others with the remaining trekkers not too far behind. He said Ross has walked an impressive 6 times before so certainly knows the ropes. Tomorrow they will head to Ua’Ule Creek for the night being their last night on the track as they will walk off on the 14th July. Keep going guys, not too far now and you will be off the track.

Update 13th July 2019

Trek 1180: Trekkers were up early for their day ahead of them. These photographs were taken by Clement this morning at Nauro Village and sent to me via facebook messenger. As you can see one guy still has on his head torch. Think of them today as they make their way down Maguli Range towards their destination of Ua’Ule Creek for the night.

Trek 1180: Pat phoned to say they are all now at Ua’Ule Creek and well positioned to walk off the track tomorrow around midday and under the archway at Owers’ Corner. He said they are all excited to know tomorrow will be celebration time following their successful trek. The first group reached the campsite area a couple of hours ahead of the rest who were taking their time, talking to kids in a village and enjoying their trek at a slightly slower pace. Keep going guys you are almost at the finish line. Apparently they crossed paths with the other trek walking in the opposite direction around Ofi Creek earlier this morning.

Update 14th July 2019

Trek 1180: Think of the group today as they make their way towards the archway at Owers’ Corner. The last climb to the top is a tough hill and one even our boys dislike. But before the climb they will have to cross over Goldie River. Depending on the rainfall, this river can be high or low. Not too much rain around at the moment so should be easy to cross.

Trek 1180: Congratulations to this group as they are off the trek and now heading towards Bomana War Cemetery.

Thanks again to Ross who has completed his 6th crossing of the Kokoda Track and for getting this group together to come and walk with him again in 2019. A few other names on this trek have walked with Kokoda Trekking and we thank them and all the new trekkers who have joined.

Well done to you all from all of us here at Kokoda Trekking!!!
