Update 24th October 2019

Trek 1174: Robert Hall and Jason Camery arrived in PNG today and will commence their trek tomorrow morning when they fly over to the Oro Province. This is a fast trek with their walk starting in Kokoda and finishing at Owers’ Corner on the 30th October. The guide for this trek is Tony Ogonemi. Wayne Urina Tihimi and Emmanuel Eroro are the personal porters. Food Porters: Tommy Bareo and Oliver Eroro.

Update 25th October 2019

Trek 1174: I received word from our guide Tony Ogonemi in Kokoda that trekkers and our KTL staff are now on the track having left the Kokoda Archway around 11:30am. Goodluck everyone, you have a tough trek ahead of you, 5 nights and on the 6th you will walk off at Owers’ Corner. For those of you who are not aware, the first photograph is the archway in Kokoda. The second photograph is the archway at Owers’ Corner. Both archways we owe our thanks to the Kokoda Memorial Foundation as they not only create a start and finish but also provide a great photo opportunity for all trekkers.

Update 26th October 2019

Trek 1174: Tony called this morning and said it was a wet windy day yesterday but today is ok. It was 5:30am and they were about to head off. He said they all did well yesterday despite the conditions. Today their destination is Eora Creek. At 9:36am they were at the Isurava Memorial. Picture them as they make their way along the track. Check out the last photograph, this is the track they will be walking on right now as they head towards Alola Village.

Update 27th October 2019

Trek 1174: Around 3:30pm this trek passed through the village of Naduri and are presently heading towards Efogi II, so another tough day for them today.

Update 28th October 2019

Trek 1174: Tony called to say they spent the night at Efogi II and today are on the move heading to Nauro Village for the night. He said they all continue to do well. Trekkers were asking about the footy scores and wondering if England beat the Kiwi’s. I gave Tony the scores and asked that he inform them its an England vs South Africa final. Picture them this morning having passed through Brigade Hill and now heading to Menari Village. Assume they will have lunch there before heading off to Nauro. Tony said they had lots of rain along the way so trekkers will have had the full experience of both the ‘wet’ and the ‘dry’.

Update 29th October 2019

Trek 1174: This group as planned spent last night at Nauro Village. Tonight they are now a Ua’Ule Creek. Tony said heavy rain, flooded creeks. Have heard that its raining in Port Moresby as well. Tonight is their last night on the track and the group should reach Owers’ Corner around 11am tomorrow morning according to Tony’s estimation based on their walking speed. Picture them tomorrow crossing over Goldie River. Hopefully it will have stopped raining by the time they reach this spot.

Update 30th October 2019

Trek 1174: Trekkers are off the track and have been making their way to the Gateway Hotel following their successful trek. Well done everyone from all of us at Kokoda Trekking. On their way in from Owers’ Corner they stopped at Bomana War Cemetery.
