Update 11th May 2018

Trek 1113: Ramsey and his trekkers had a tough day as they have reached Ioribaiwa Village. This trek will eventually catch up with Trek 1142.

Update 12th May 2018

Trek 1113: I just received a satellite phone call at 9pm tonight from Wayne informing me they have now reached Menari Village. He said it was a long tough day and that they are tired but all ok. Apparently they arrived in Menari at 8pm. Tomorrow the plan is to head to 1900 so another hard day coming up for these 3 trekkers and our staff.

Update 13th May 2018

Trek 1113: The rain is pouring down at the moment on the track according to Wayne Urina Tihimi who braved the weather outside to give me a call. They were initially heading to 1900 however due to the wet weather they decided to stop at Naduri for the night. He said the trekkers were tired so already asleep when he called around 8:30pm. Tomorrow the plan is to reach Eora Creek! Aimee sent a text earlier to her partner Brendon by sat phone stating lots to tell so no doubt plenty of memories are being formed as they move along the Kokoda Trail. Keep going trek 1113, not too far now and one more night and a day and you will be in Kokoda.

Update 14th May 2018

Trek 1113: Am yet to hear from this trek today but the Kokoda grapevine via Trek 1142 informed me they are hot on their heels and villages passed a message to Tony that they would be at Eora Creek for the night and to SLOW down so they could catch them as they are all have to walk off the track tomorrow and head to Pija for the night both treks. Tomorrow this trek will have another tough day and the farmers out in front can spend the time walking and stopping for a well earned dip in a creek at Hoi.

Trek 1113: Ramsey just called….they are a hop step and jump away from Tony Ogonemi’s group as they have reached Alola Village. They plan on starting around 6am tomorrow so will catch up with the farmers ahead of them and our other KTL boys and will all make their way off the mountain together. I spoke to Aimee and she said its been tough but they have really enjoyed the experience. Brendon, apparently she has been turning her phone on and off to take photographs and said to let you know if any power left when they reach mobile coverage, she will give you a call.

Update 15th May 2018

Treks 1113 & 1142: Two groups now moving as one and have just left Kovelo so are close to finishing their treks, estimate now 2:30pm in Kokoda. Picture them as they walk towards Kokoda. Our KTL boys per the norm, make a headdress for them just like the girl in this photograph below. No doubt they have done something similar for this group of trekkers to add to the excitement of finishing their trek. I am now getting regular updates….they have just left Kovelo…no too long now! Two 4WDrives are ready and waiting for them and Maryanne is picking up the Pizza ingredients for their meal tonight.

Trek 1113 & Trek 1142: Congratulations are in order as both sets of trekking groups walked off the track and under the archway in Kokoda around 2:30pm this afternoon. Very soon they will head down to Pija for the night before flying back to Port Moresby tomorrow morning. Well done everyone from all of us here at Kokoda Trekking.
