Update 17th June 2024
Trek 1207: This trek left Owers’ Cnr earlier today and pulled up for the night at Goodwater Campsite area. In this trek are two women all the way from Hungary (our first) and a woman by the name of Annie Johnson who has been waiting since 2020 for her walk. Their names are: Zita Andrassy, Laura Cseke and Annie Johnson. Their guide is Trevor Jinga. Personal Porter is Ivan Semie carrying for Annie. Food Porters are: Chris Yauga, Roland Mambia, Herry Mendari and Carson Suma.
Update 18th June 2024
Trek 1207: This trek have now rached Ofi Creek where they will spend the night. Tomorrow the plan is to head to Agulogo for the night. Trevor said they are all doing well. Earlier today at Imita Ridge, I was chatting to Ivan thanking him for the photographs he sent. I asked how his trekker Annie was. His reply, ‘she said she’s in heaven’ unquote. Laura felt the heat today but is ok.
Update 19th June 2024
Update: A short time ago both treks 1207 and 1212 caught up with each other at the top of Maguli Range around 11:30am this morning. Clements group kept moving on and the three girls are having a break before walking towards Nauro Village. Later they will head on further down the track to Agulogo.
As for the 6 guys, they are moving on further to Menari for the night.
All trekkers are doing well. At the top of Maguli, Annie turned to Ivan and she she ‘loves it’.
Update 20th June 2024
Trek 1207: This trek is heading towards the half way point of Efogi where they will spend the night. Ivan was lucky with coverage and sent me a few photographs taken today which i have just uploaded. They are all going well.
Update 22nd June 2024
Trek 1207: Trevor just called to say as planned the group are now at Alola Village for the night. All continue to do well. Tomorrow for their last night on the track they plan to pull up at Deniki.
Since leaving Owers’ Cnr. its been a dry track until yesterday when the heaven’s opened up and it rained. Last night Trevor said was a bit cool and everyone was in bed early.
Update 23rd June 2024
Trek 1207: Not too far behind trek 1212 is a group of 3 women who were going to camp at Deniki for the night but who now find themselves at Hoi as two treks who commenced today with another company walking in the opposite direction have filled up the campsite area. As a result this group will now walk off the track earlier than expected at approx 9:30am tomorrow morning. Laura asked Trevor to give me a message, that she is going to finish. She has struggled most of the way so we are truly happy for her to walk off tomorrow in Kokoda. Picture them tonight in this lush green setting.
Update 24th June 2024
Trek 1207: This trek walked off the Kokoda Trail and under the archway in Kokoda around 8:30am this morning. Well done girls and our KTL crew who walked alongside of them. We trust you enjoyed your walk in a very big park. To Annie, she booked to walk in 2020 then covid hit and borders and flights into and out of PNG were closed. She has now achieved her dream that has been a long time coming. To our two trekkers who I am led to believe were born in Hungary, we thank you for coming to walk with us as you are the very first from your country to do so. Have a top day in Kokoda and have a well earned rest before you depart for your drive to the airport tomorrow morning.
