AUSTRALIAN Guided Trek Owers’ to Kokoda

Date: 3rd July 2019 – 10th July 2019

Australian guided trek commencing at Owers’ Corner on the 3rd of July and finishing in Kokoda on the 9th of July where will catch a charter flight back to Port Moresby to end your trek. – Trek 1154 – Guide Pat Vainerere

 


Itinerary:

Day 1 – 3rd July 2019: Owers’Cnr to Ua’Ule Creek
Day 2 – 4th July 2019: Ua’Ule Creek to Nauro
Day 3 – 5th July 2019: Nauro to Efogi
Day 4 – 6th July 2019: Efogi to 1900/Myola Junction
Day 5 – 7th July 2019: 1900/Myola Junction to Eora Creek
Day 6 – 8th July 2019: Eora Creek to Hoi
Day 7 – 9th July 2019: Hoi to Kokoda airstrip back to POM – Hotel
Day 8 – 10th July 2019: Hotel
Day 9 – 11th July 2019: Trekkers depart this day.


Update 3rd July 2019

Trek 1154: is on the track. Up bright and early and ready for pick up at 5:30am. On the way out to the drop off point at Owers’ Corner they stopped at Bomana War Cemetery and also McDonald’s Corner. At 8:05am they were heading down their first descent towards Goldie River. The guide for this trek is Pat Vainerere. Go girls!


Update 4th July 2019

Trek 1154: Trekkers powered along yesterday it would seem and were already at Ua’Ule Creek by 1pm. They were going to keep moving but heard there were bigger groups ahead so decided to stop there for the night.

Maguli Range this morning 4th July taken by one of the porters by the name of Ramsy Idau and sent to me via facebook mesenger.


Update 5th July 2019

Trek 1154: The trekker are going well. Kate and Tahlia walked into the campsite area around 4pm with the father and daughter arriving around 6pm. Tomorrow they head to Dump 1 for the night. The trek is wet at the moment.

 


Update 7th July 2019

Trek 1154: This trek reached Templeton’s Crossing last night with the two girls pacing themselves well and it appear so fit. Today they will head to either Isurava Memorial or Isurava Village for their last night on the track. Keep going girls not too far now and you will be walking under the archway in Kokoda. Picture them today as they make their way to Eora Creek and then up to Alola Village before reaching Isurava.

Trek 1154: This group have now reached Isurava Memorial. Tomorrow they will walk out in Kokoda. The weather is dry over the other side according to Pat. It will take approximately 5 hours to walk off the track but they have decided to stop at Hoi for a swim and to cool off before walking into Kokoda to celebrate their successful trek.

 


Update 8th July 2019

Trek 1154: Congratulations are in order as they have walked off the track under the archway mid afternoon after stopping at Hoi for a dip in the creek. At the moment are relaxing in Kokoda before their flight back to Port Moresby tomorrow morning. Well done everyone, Pat, trekkers and our KTL team.
