Kokoda Adventure Trek – Owers’ Corner to Kokoda
Date: 19 October 2018 – 26 October 2018
Commencing at Owers’ Corner on the 19th of October and finishing by walking into Kokoda on the 25th of October where you will overnight. The following day 26th of October you will fly back into Port Moresby – Trek 1141
Itinerary:
Day 1 – 19th October: Owers’ Cnr to Goodwater
Day 2 – 20th October: Goodwater to Ofi Creek
Day 3 – 21st October: Ofi Creek to Menari
Day 4 – 22nd October: Menari to 1900/Myola Junction
Day 5 – 23rd October: 1900 Myola Junction to Eora Creek
Day 6 – 24th October: Eora Creek to Hoi
Day 7 – 25th October: Hoi to Kokoda
Day 8 – 26th October: Kokoda to Port Moresby
Update 19th October 2018
Trek 1141: This trek got away around 6am this morning. Trekkers in this group include: Maxwell O’Kane; Mark Tailby; Thomas Kring; Gayle and Christian Jordan. This trek has reached Ua’Ule Creek tonight with the destination tomorrow being Nauro Village. Its our last trek for 2018 so it was great to be in PNG to see them off.
Guide for this trek is Trevor Jinga. Support crew are: Emmanuel, Duggie, Kini Eroro; Morris Jinga; Essau Turia; Lawrence Umbu; Roland Mambia; Ivan Semie.
Update 20th October 2018
Trek 1141: This trek is now at Nauro Village. I spoke to Ivan and he said Maxwell O’Kane and Thomas Kring arrived around 3pm with Mark Tailby arriving around 5pm.
On this trek Trevor Jinga is the guide. Other KTL crew are: Lawrence Umbu; Roland Mambia; Ivan Semie; Duggie and Kingsley Eroro; Morris Jinga, Essau Turia and Saul Osara. Tomorrow the plan is to spend the night at Brigade Hill. Gayle and Christian Jordan have pulled out and returned to Port Moresby yesterday.
Update 21st October 2018
Trek 1141: This group arrived at Brigade Hill around 4pm today. No problems whatsoever with anyone so all good. Tomorrow the plan is to reach 1900/Myola Junction. The track has been wet and slippery but they continue to make good time.
Update 22nd October 2018
Trek 1141: Trevor reported in to say they have now reached 1900/Myola Junction and that they are all ok and doing well. Tomorrow they plan on heading to Eora Creek for the night. He said it poured rain around midday today so track remains wet and slippery.
Update 23rd October 2018
Trek 1141: This trek is now at Eora Creek. No problems whatsoever, all trekkers and porters are ok and doing well. For their last night on the track they will head to Isurava Village. Think of them tomorrow as they make their way up to Alola Village closely followed by Isurava Memorial before reaching their final destination. Keep going, not too far now trek 1141.
Update 24th October 2018
Trek 1141: This group reached their destination at 2pm this afternoon and are now perfectly positioned to walk off the track tomorrow. Everyone is well and looking forward to completing their walk. Picture them tomorrow as they make their way down and out of the hills.
Update 25th October 2018
Trek 1141: Congratulations to the latest group of trekkers who have just walked off the track in Kokoda. Well done guys, from all of us here at Kokoda Trekking. They are presently looking around the museum area and will shortly make their way down to Kebara where they will spend the night before flying back to Port Moresby tomorrow morning. Thanks also to Trevor Jinga and our Kokoda Trekking crew for taking such good care of you all.
