Kokoda Adventure Trek – Owers’ Corner to Kokoda
Date: 4 October 2018 – 12 October 2018
Commencing at Owers’ Corner on the 4th of October and finishing by walking into Kokoda on the 11th of October.. The following day 12th of October you will fly back into Port Moresby – Trek 1138
Itinerary:
Day 1 – 4th October 2018 : Owers’ Corner to Ua’Ule Creek
Day 2 – 5th October 2018 : Ua’Ule Creek to Ofi Creek
Day 3 – 6th October 2018 : Ofi Creek to Agulogo
Day 4 – 7th October 2018 : Agulogo to Efogi
Day 5 – 8th October 2018 : Efogi to 1900
Day 6 – 9th October 2018 : 1900 to Eora Creek
Day 7 – 10th October 2018 : Eora Creek to Isurava Village
Day 8 – 11th October 2018 : Isurava Village to Kokoda
Day 9 – 12th October 2018 : Popondetta to Port Moresby
Update 3rd October 2018
Trek 1138: Trekkers arrived from Australia this afternoon and are now settled in to the Gateway Hotel.
Update 4th October 2018
Trek 1138: On the track this morning is a group of 3 heading off as I type from Owers’ Corner to commence their walk. Malanie McKane, Michael Regino and Peter Gaudron. Guide is Harold Hauro. Personal Porters are Ernst Jinga and Emmanuel Eroro. Food Porters: Kingsley, Solomon and Oliver Eroro; Morris Jinga and Essau Tuturia
Update 4th October 2018
Trek 1138: Harold Hauro called me on the sat phone and said they had a really good day and have reached Ua’Ule Creek for the night. Tomorrow the plan is to stop at Ofi Creek. All trekkers and porters doing ok and looking forward to another day on the track. Please remember that these are not photographs of present trekkers. Their photographs will be uploaded once the trek has come in off the track. They are posted to give you all some idea of the area they are in each day.
Update 5th October 2018
Trek 1138: This trek are now at Ofi Creek sharing the campsite with another trekking company. It was a short day today and they arrived around midday. Tomorrow its going to be tough as they have a big day ahead of them as they tackle Maguli Range before reaching the village of Nauro. The plan is to push on through Nauro and head down to Agulogo for the night. Picture them walking through Nauro & Nauro swamp area by looking at the photographs below.
Update 6th October 2018
Trek 1138: Harold informed me today that they are now at Agulogo and that they all enjoyed their day with no problems whatsoever. The plan for tomorrow is to head to Efogi the half way point. He said the weather is fine with no rain at this stage of the trek.
Update 7th October 2018
Trek 1138: Well done to this group as they have reached the half way point of Efogi and it seems have no problems whatsoever. Tomorrow they will head to 1900/Myola Junction for the night.
Update 8th October 2018
Trek 1138: Harold called this afternoon to say they are now at Dump 1 for the night. Everyone continues to do well. Tomorrow they will head to Alola. No rain it seems so they are making good time into their destination each day.
Update 10th October 2018
Trek 1138: Did not hear from this trek yesterday but today were informed they spent the night at Alola. Today they stopped at Isurava Memorial area before moving on down to Deniki for the night. Tomorrow morning they will walk off the track in Kokoda. Everyone continues to do well.
Update 11th October 2018
Trek 1138: Congratulations are in order as trekkers walked off the track this morning. At the present time the last I heard was that they were swimming in a creek at Kebara Village. Well done to our trekkers and to Harold Hauro and our KTL boys who accompanied them on the track.
