Boss Meri
MemberAs planned Doug and Erden along with our KTL boys arrived at the yacht club mid afternoon and were quite excited naturally to complete their walk.
Erden is looking forward to hanging up his boots for awhile and hitting the ocean in his boat. As for Wayne their guide, he was happy but at the same time emotional as it was his first 'coast to coast' and he was relieved when it all ended according to plan.
We will meet up with them around 10am this morning to drive them out to Bomana War Cemetery and to have lunch with them.
As for Jo, she spent most of the day yesterday driving around with me in the Prado checking up on their progress; giving them ice-cream and drinks and in general just making sure they were safe.
Last night she joined them for dinner at the Ela Beach Hotel and will head back to Australia today.
Doug looked well and was also happy to reach the Yacht Club entrance. I will now post some photographs taken yesterday.

Memberthey continued walking in the hot tropical heat of Port Moresby with a few breaks for COKE…yes, Erden joked that they should be one of his sponsors as he ended up drinking quite a number of bottles before he completed his walk.

MemberErden was met by Colin Taimbari from the PNG Tourism Authority along with a representative from the Post Courier.
After all the sadness throughout 2009, it was a great way to finish the year for us welcoming Erden, Doug, Jo and our KTL staff after their successful trek.
Well done from all of us here at Kokoda Trekking. We would like to wish Erden a safe journey in his rowing boat to Thursday Island and for the remainder of his ongoing quest to climb six of the world's highest mountains and to get there using only human power.
To Doug, we trust you will enjoy your time in Australia with your wife and that once the dust settles, you will look back on your time in PNG as one of the highlights of your life.
As for Jo, I am sure she will have lots of stories to tell once she arrives back home.
Thanks again for choosing Kokoda Trekking as its been great meeting up with you all. As for Wayne, he is just so thankful to have the chance to walk with you all and sends a big thank you from him and his boys to each and everyone of you.
Keep in touch
