Fluppy
MemberNoticed a couple of times that sometimes after walking for a couple of hours, my legs seem to turn to jelly and I feel really wobbly.
To combat this, I have been pushing through it until my legs go into overdrive and eventually they function on automatic pilot.
Yes, I am getting nutrition into me (power foods like bananas, apples, nuts etc) and am keeping up the fluids – if I drink any more water I'll spend the day just peeing it all out instead of putting one foot in front of the other walking the track!
Anyway, just wondering what wobbly legs are caused from and does anyone else get this?

MemberHi Fluppy
I presume you are keeping the water or gateraid up even if you do not feel like a drink do have one every so often regardless.
Do some stretching exercises after you have warmed up and particularly when you stop for a longer break certainly at the end of each days walking. Stretching when cold does more harm than good I usually walk for a little while before I do.
Stretching is most important have look http://www.halhigdon.com/15Ktraining/Stretch.htm

MemberThank you for the link Brian. I have saved it into my favs and will also be printing it out to take to Kokoda with me when I go. I know all too well (being a retired gymnast) how important stretching is. I guess because it's winter here at the moment, I find it difficult to do so for fear of pulling a muscle and not being able to train…

MemberHi fluppy.
We all bought a set of skins each to walk in and they have made a huge difference.
We no longer suffer from muscle pain either while we are walking or the day after, they are great.
My son is in the military, he and all his mates wear them while on exercise in the scrub and swear by them.

MemberI have a set of skins and will be buying another before I go. I swear by them too. My hubby on the other hand hates them. Says they are too uncomfortable for him (we bought him the shorts). Each to their own I guess.

MemberI prefer the long ones myself.
We all get wobbly legs, its just the strain and stress that we put them through walking over hill and dale with back packs on. - AuthorPosts
