MemberHi there,
Tufi used to be known as a 'Dive Resort' but these past few months they have been trying really hard to loose that image.
They have put in a swimming pool and from memory a spa is about to go in if not already. They have also employed a masseur.
These days they want it to be a place where you can relax and sure go diving if you you want but if not, simply lie back and enjoy the peaceful surroundings on offer.
Other than that, you could always head off to Alotau as its a quiet peaceful town with a few different resorts.
The reason Tufi is such a good choice however, is that it is still in the Oro Province and therefore wont hit your pocket as much. For anyone trekking from Ower's Corner to Kokoda, instead of flying back into Port Moresby Airlines of PNG can pick you up in Kokoda and take you to Tufi for a couple of days and then you return from there back to Port Moresby.
If you are into fishing, there is also a black bass fishing lodge which is a great place
but if not, then in Tufi you can do other things or just simply put your feet up and be waited on by their staff. There also is a cheaper option of staying in guesthouses, the choice is yours.02/05/2006 at 2:08 am #96717fuebergang
MemberThanks for your informative reply, but am also wondering if it is possible to walk from Tufi and stay at nearby villages??

MemberI am sure it is possible but I would suggest you contact Linda Honey at the following email address as she runs the resort and also helps the local villagers.
Trekkers can either stay at her resort or they can stay at guesthouses. Linda acts as the contact for this. Its really a win win situation as even if you stay at a guesthouse you might end up at her resort for a meal, drink of beer and so on. I believe its pretty relaxed over there.
