Nothing like a change of venue….

We are putting in two teams in the up coming Walk for Life Corporate Challenge organised by PriceWaterhouseCoopers to be held in Port Moresby on the 31st August, 2003.

Two trekkers from Australia have kindly offered to join our guide and porters as they head off from Ela Beach, up Lawes Road, down past the Post Courier.

They will then head for Port Road, followed by downtown Port Moresby and back to Ela Beach.

Airlines of Papua New Guinea who are also entering teams in the same event, have generously allowed the flight to Kokoda on the 31st August to be delayed slightly to allow us to participate. The flight will now leave at 9:30 which more often than not is the normal time anyway if Kokoda is clouded in as is the case most days.

If you wish to find out more information about this annual event, please CLICK HERE:

Last year we entered a team of mudmen which insisted on walking the entire distance with their mask heads and were a big hit with the organisers of the event.

One mudman even won a prize of a free trip to Madang for two. They also won the best dressed team!

This year a sing sing group from the Oro Province will walk with our group to represent the start of the Kokoda Trail if you were to walk from Kokoda to Ower's Corner.

pngbd – Papua New Guinea Tourism and Business Directory will sponsor the above team of sing sing dancers and trekkers to show the business community of Port Moresby that we do care about raising money for such a great cause and also to show awareness of our efforts to promote tourism here in PNG.

pngbd has dedicated the past two years to show tourists such as Kokoda Trekkers that you too can come to PNG and explore; trek; holiday or whatever, and we will do our utmost to point you in the right direction to ensure you have a safe, happy experience!

This is just another way of showing that we care, and to help raise money for Lady Carol Kidu's Heart Institute in honour of her late husband Sir Buri Kidu Heart Foundation. Last year this event raised over K50,000 for a much needed cause.

We are presently in the early stages of creating a map of Kokoda onto a tarpaulin which will be one of two erected by our guide and porters at Ela Beach to help provide shade.

Eric Uwea- our Kokoda Guide is on hand to make sure our artist gets it right. The image has progressed a lot since this pic was taken, will keep updating the photograph on a daily basis until the finished product and the trek on the 31st August, 2003.

Yesterday, I went down to organise T/Shirts and came across a guy from the Morobe Province who just so happened to have an interest in painting.

Guess what, he knocked off at 12pm, came back to the compound, got some ideas from books and canvas number two got started this morning…..now this guy can really paint….take a look at his work!

Bear in mind this mural only got started at 5am this morning and it is still only 12:50pm as I post this on our website:
