MemberIntroducing CAMP KOKODA – Village Stay Accommodation in the heart of Kokoda:
If you are not fit enough to walk the whole Kokoda Track but feel you would like to travel out to Kokoda and have a look around, then this is possible by booking through us.
Are you looking for any of the following:
- Are you not fit enough to walk 8-9 days but can walk for two up and from from Isurava to Kokoda
- Have you ever imagined what it is like to live in a village
- Why not experience how the people of Kokoda go about their normal everyday lives
- Have you ever swam in a creek
- Do your children look forward to running around and having fun without the worry of security
- Is the history of Kokoda of interest to your family
- Can you only get off work for a couple of days but not a couple of weeks
- Quiet family atmosphere in a tranquil setting
- Traditional welcome of sing sing dancers beating their kundu drums and colourful dress
- Have you ever wondered what it was like to live without electricity, TV, telephones, septic toilets
- Taste the most beautiful bananas and passionfruit along with other fresh fruit picked daily
- Sleep in a traditional win house
If you have answered yes to any of the questions above, then why not head over to Kokoda for the weekend or during the week for a couple of days. Flights go in and out of Popondetta everyday and we own transport in Kokoda that could drive down and collect you from the airport and transport you to Kokoda.
In Kokoda you would overnight at the Eroro Family block in traditional houses like the ones below in the photograph.
If you like the hustle and bustle of city life, this would not be for you. If on the other hand you wonder what it would be like to switch off and do nothing but walk around, swim in creeks, talk to locals and experience their culture than this would be a great couple of days.
We would supply 24 hour ration packs for your food and take care of all your needs at the other end in Kokoda.
If you are a backpacker and want to see more of PNG, then why not head to Kokoda. The people are friendly and happy and trekker after trekker have enjoyed their stay at the Eroro Family Block.
Other day trips can be arranged including a walk up to Isurava Monument Area. If you are not fit enough to reach the area, its easy to turn back to Kokoda without any pressure on you whatsoever to keep going.

MemberIt is quite safe to walk around Kokoda. The Eroro family block is situated on the road from Popondetta to Kokoda and is approximately 5 km from the Kokoda Station. You could walk with family members up to the station and look inside the Kokoda War Museum and return to the block later in the day:

MemberAs a kid I used to love riding around in the back of my grandfather's Holden ute. Sometimes trekkers come back in and say this was part of the thrill for them doing something different than they can do back home:

MemberWhat could be better than to head out to Kokoda and relax like this in a creek with a cold beer? For families, its a chance for them to experience a new culture and for them too to have a swim in a creek such as this one situated on the Eroro family block
