Our 6 days FAST TREK walkers had a very EARLY start this morning as they had to be at the airport at 5:30am to book in for our charter to Kokoda.

Full thanks must go to AIRLINES OF PNG for an excellent service this morning in getting our 17 trekkers away ALONG WITH ALL THEIR BACKPACKS.

Our guides and porters were waiting for them on arrival along with our two trekkers who had just completed their 6 day trek.

Most of these trekkers in 152 b are my 'wantoks' as they say here in PNG as they hail from the Gold Coast/Tweed Heads area of Australia. If anyone goes sick on this trek there is will be lots of help offered as the trek has more doctors than I can count along with two nurses.

With Russell not long having had a gall bladder operation at Pindara Hospital, jokes flew round about how he should have had the op at the tweed and they could have arranged a contra…haha

    Trekkers are as follows:

Geoff Ramin; Peter Algie; Mary Campbell; Dr. Michael Lindley-Jones; Fiona Scassor; Dr. Steve Cattanach; Tracey Dovey; Geoff Wren & Dr. Nicholas Watson (suffering from jet lag having just flown in from England yesterday).

After discussions with Pam Christie and myself last Friday, it was decided that we would combine our other two treks, ie Trek 206 & Trek 152 a.

On arrival yesterday I put the idea to Hayden Hills who also agreed to become one big happy group. Trekkers soon bonded with each other at Jackson's Airport this morning and are seen here in a group shot.

    List of Trekkers:

Hayden Hills; Peter Walker; Ross Walker; Neil Walker & Sophie Capodanno from trek 152 a

Simon (David Freeman) and Katrina Cooper from Trek 206.

    Guide: Nikki George

Nikki seemed excited to be on a 6 day fast trek and looking forward to another adventure with her latest group of trekkers. Can anyone guess which one Nikki is??? yes, she is the one in PNG colours, our company uniform.

The boys think this is pretty 'cool' to see an expatriate dressed in their local colours so I think Nikki will have won a few hearts as they are all just so proud to be Papua New Guinean's.

Trekkers seen here with the 24 hour ration packs. All were amazed at how much food they contained. We informed them we have also had them tested at a University on the Gold Coast and have been given the green light as excellent food packs for our trekkers.

Our food packs are supplied to us by: http://www.food4treks.com.au

The quality control is thorough in so much that all A, B & C packs have been prepared with up to date 'use by dates' and todate no-one has complained about missing food from any pack.

One trekker complained recently that he did not like the same variety of lollies every day for 8 days. Point taken, but to the best of my ability we are the only company that supplies any kind of lollies as well as a chocolate bar, chewing gum and other varieties on a day to day basis.

With most companies, you are confined to SPAM, OX & PALM (local varieties of tinned meat); rice; weetbix, cheese & biscuits, day in day out!

With our packs you know in advance how much you can eat each day and therefore we never run out of sugar/tea/coffee etc. In fact 80% of people say they can never eat all that is included in their ration packs.

They are not designed to finish everything, they are designed so that you find something in the pack that you like. Some trekkers might like nuts….others chocolate and so on. This way you have a variety of food to like or dislike…then you can give away to our porters. If our porters do not want it, we ask them to pass onto the villagers and so on.
