This morning we said goodbye at Owers' Corner to the next two groups to walk the Kokoda Trail. Whilst the two groups commenced their trek together, they will split tomorrow as two will complete their trek on the 16th and fly back to Port Moresby on the 17th. The others will finish their trek on the 18th August and fly back on the 19th August. Trekkers are made up as follows:

    Trek 1035

      [*]Arthur Taylor
      [*]Tom Alexander

    Trek 1036

      [*]Karen McLellan
      [*]Patrick Goodwin
      [*]Nick Thorn
      [*]Alexandra Lawson
      [*]Pat Vainerere (Australian Guide)

Received a phone call from Gary Juary saying they have reached Ua'Ule Creek where they are spending their first night. Tomorrow he will take off with Tom and Arthur and head to Agulogo. The other group plan on stopping at Ofi Creek. Everyone it seems was really fast and arrived at Ua'Ule Creek around 1pm this afternoon.

Trek 1036: This trek has now reached Templeton's Crossing. Tomorrow the plan is to head to Isurava Village to spend their last night on the track. According to Pat, they have run into a bit of rain which has made things interesting but all good and they are now powering on towards the finish line.

Trekkers arrived at Isurava Village around 1pm this afternoon but it took until tonight for Pat to phone and give me his update coz its been raining! Even as he talked to me he was out in the rain whilst trekkers were already fast asleep no doubt looking forward to tomorrow when they walk off the track. Such excitement ahead of them as they walk under the archway in Kokoda. The plan is to be prepared and ready to commence walking around 7am.

Congratulations are in order as the group walked through the archway in Kokoda and are now on their way down to Orohaven Pija for the night. I spoke with Pat and it seems there are smiles all round as they celebrate their walk across the Kokoda Trail.

Well done everyone from all of us here at Kokoda Trekking. Tomorrow morning they will fly back into Port Moresby.
