Trek 248: Heather Dowton and her son Matthew returned back into town and are now back in Australia following their trek. To use Heather's own words, our porters helped push/pull her up and down lots of mountains and sometimes even lifted her but they did get her safely across the track.

    Trekkers Comments:

From Matthew: Extremely impressed with both the organisation and conduct of all the party. Arnold, Suckling and Vincent were all very personnal, whilst meeting all their professional duties in a similar way. We were an extremly small party of (2) but never felt we weren't included by the boys.

Their ability in the field is very impressive and they were able to set their pace to match the energy/ability of the group members and never put a foot wrong, which helped us stay upright!

Especially liked the way there were able to handle the different fitness levels, without anyone feeling held back or patronized.

In Summary: terrific trip, great staff and impressed with the food rations packs – love the beef jerky!

Would recommend KTL to any perspective trekkers!

From his mother Heather: I believe that age is no barrier to the track but fitness certainly is. I only completed the track because of the team but especially Suckling my personal porter. From the very outset, he said that he was there to get me through. He had to pull me up inclines, hold my hand down steep descents, lift me over barriers etc.

I will forever remember "This way please ma'am…." Then there was the look of concern when I fell over once again. I think they gave up counting how many times I slipped over.

Suckling, Arnold and Vincent made it possible for me to complete the Kokoda Track. THANK YOU. I think when I get over the hurt I will say what a wonderful experience it was.
