MemberTrekkers have now reached the village of Ioribaiwa where they will spend the night. Tomorrow they will have a tough day as they head up Maguli Range on the way to Naoro Village before heading down to Agulogo to spend the night.
IORIBAIWA – The extent of the Japanese advance:
By the 28th September, the Japanese had been ordered to retreat and re-establish themselves on the coast at Buna because their reinforcements had been redirected to Guadalcanal, leaving them abandoned by their superiors.
Also, because they had only ten days rations when leaving Kokoda, thinking they could provision from the villages enroute, the month it took them to reach Ioribaiwa left them desperately short of food. They were literally starving. The Australian's ensured any food stocks left behind were tainted and would cause digestive problems.
NAORO – Because of its terrain that afforded little opportunity for defence, Naoro saw little military action. It was however, cleared and used by the 'biscuit bombers' as a parachute drop site.

MemberAndrew just called on the sat phone and said the weather has not been kind to them and they have experienced a fair bit of rain.
He also added that the track is wet and slippery. Pat further down at Efogi said the same thing so I did not have any good news to tell him.
Apart from that, dinner was about to be served and the trekkers were all happy.

MemberTrekkers had a short day today from Efogi to Kagi but perhaps just like Jonathan O'Loughlin in this photograph, they sighed relief when they reached the village as it was a tough walk. Tomorrow they are heading to Eora Creek for the night as the plan is to be at Isurava Memorial on Anzac Day.

MemberTrekkers are now at Isurava Memorial where they are camped for the night together with approx 500 other people waiting for the dawn service tomorrow morning which is supposed to commence at 5:45am.
Following the service they will make their way down to Kokoda and will overnight at our base, Orohaven. They are expected to arrive around 1pm.

MemberTrekkers are presently at Kovelo at 1:50pm waiting on one trekker Grant to catch up and then they will walk as a group to Kokoda and under the archway.
Earlier this morning they woke up at Isurava and attended the Anzac Day Dawn Service there. Based on feedback it was both emotional and powerful as all trekking companies stood as one. Following the service, they moved off around 8am to walk down to Kokoda.
No doubt like in the photograph below, trekkers have been dressed traditionally waiting on Grant to arrive so they can all walk down together as a group and under the archway.
