MemberAn early start this morning for both trekkers and us as they were booked to fly to Popondetta at 7am this morning. Airlines PNG ran on time and a short time later they had landed in Popondetta and were met by their guide Wayne Urina Tihimi and later driven up to Kokoda for the commencement of their trek.
After morning tea at our base Orohaven, trekkers took to the track and have now reached Isurava Village which is further than what we thought they would do today thinking they would pull up at Deniki.
According to Wayne, his trekkers are strong, fit and settling into the track conditions. Trekkers in this trek include :
[*]Brad Webb
[*]Matthew Crehan
[*]Bronwen Fuchsblichler

MemberTwo trekkers Brad Webb and Matthew Crehan along with their guide and porters have now reached Efogi the half way point. Two other trekkers Bronwen and Aaron have returned to Kokoda and will fly back to Port Moresby tomorrow morning.
Sadly for Bronwen she was sick on the first night and was forced to retire. I have been informed she is ok now. No doubt disappointed they did not get to finish their trek.

MemberThis trek are now at Naoro tonight and remaining two trekkers continue to do well and powering towards the finish line. The plan tomorrow is to head to Goldie River for the night and walk off the track the following day.

MemberToday I got to meet up with Brad and Matthew when they came off the track at Owers' Corner this morning. Late yesterday they were supposed to stop at Goldie River but it was flooding so a decision was made to stop at Goodwater campsite area instead and try first thing this morning.
As it turned out this morning Goldie was still flooded so our boys had to make a raft to get them and their gear across the river. It would have came in handy as we had another trek heading out this morning so they too used the raft.
After we left Owers' Corner we drove down through Sogeri and stopped at Bomana War Cemetery for a short visit before getting stuck in traffic at an area referred to as 8 mile.
Once back at our base they had a quick shower and were soon off to the airport to book in for their flight back home.
On behalf of Kokoda Trekking Management and Staff, thanks for choosing to walk with us.
