Boss Meri
MemberTrek 953 is on the track having been picked up this morning and driven out to Owers' Corner. Wayne & Margaret Jackson are back again to walk the track and this time they have brought with them their son and daughter Guy & Kirsty. Friends, Darren and Naomi Juers complete the group of 6.
Looking extremely fit and ready for their 96km trek, they walked off down the hill to Owers' Corner mid morning as the plan today was to reach Goodwater Campsite as we had heard via the grapevine that Goldie River is still flooded and knew it would take some time to cross over to the other side.
The road to Vesulogo this morning reminded us of the old road as we needed to be in 4WDrive to get up the hill. Since the road was graded many years ago, it has been like a super highway until now! Our troopcarrier led the way and had two attempts to get up the hill. I had Wayne sitting beside me and I could see he would love to give it a go, so we swapped positions and he drove like a true 4WDriver and we got up first go much to the delight of the others in the vehicle.
So this set the tune for their adventure about to happen and he continued to drive up to the drop off point at the top of the hill at Owers' Corner as due to the rain we decided to stop there rather than go to the bottom near the archway.

MemberPhotographs taken shortly before they walked down towards Goldie River. The guide for this trek is Tony Ogonemi from Iora Block in Kokoda. For those of you who check our website, Tony was the personal porter of Tom Quick a stroke victim at the age of 12 and at the age of 21 with his help, they successfully completed a walk across the track last week.
The plan today was to reach Goodwater campsite area for the night as it was anticipated it might take time to cross Goldie River due to recent heavy rain and possible flooding.

MemberTony has not reported in tonight but based on the GPS they are carrying, they have reached Ofi Creek which was their destination point they were aiming for today. Today would have been a tough day as they commenced at Goodwater and made their way through Ioribaiwa before heading to Ofi Creek.

MemberTony called around 6:30am this morning to say they were about to head off from Ofi Creek. Today they plan on walking up Maguli Range and through Naoro Village down to Agulogo. If they arrive early they will push through to Menari for the night. Everyone continues to do well and are enjoying their trek.
