MemberClifford Caton is walking alongside BRENDAN BUKA, the record holder for the fastest time to cross the track. Brendan took off from Owers' Corner at 7am along with 68 other competitors and finished in Kokoda in a time of 16 hour 34 minutes. Brendan did not compete in our last race but has won every race he has competed in.

MemberIntroducing the man in charge of this trek, Pat Vainerere from the Gold Coast. Pat is a personal trainer and is a karate expert. When he first walked the track somehow villages heard that he had competed again the PNG champ Stanley Nandex and won. As he walked along the track word had spread and one villager showed him a photograph that was in the local paper of himself and Nandex. When not working or training security staff, Pat several times a week takes a long walk around the hinterland surrounding the Gold Coast mostly with clients trying to get themselves fit.
For anyone considering walking the track and can get to the Gold Coast, you could join Pat on one of his many walks.
Originally from the Cook Islands, he has a very easy going personality and although the boss, he has the respect of our staff.
On the left of him in this photograph is one of his assistant guides on this trek, Clement Harika.
