MemberTrekkers flew in at various times during the afternoon of the 3rd May and headed off to the Yacht Club, well that was after one guy whose bag went missing somewhere in Africa who need to pick up a few items in Boroko such as undies etc. Luckily he found what he needed and him and his two mates were the first to go to the Yacht Club.
Last night they all ate at the Yacht Club before being picked up for an early night as they needed to be up at 5am to be at the airport by 5:45am.
All went according to plan and when I arrived at the airport this morning around 6am, everyone had checked in and looked excited, pumped up and ready to head out on their PNG adventure.
I took two pics whilst we were getting organised:

MemberMinutes before they walked inside to the boarding lounge, the group photograph below was taken:
On arrival in Popondetta they were met by their guide Ernst Jinga, visited the war memorial area, no doubt purchased some water and possibly snacks and are now heading up to Orohaven our base in Kokoda where they will have lunch before heading off to Deniki to spend the night.

MemberTrekkers arrived at Kokoda around 1pm today where they had lunch at our base, Orohaven and tucked into a few pizza's before heading up to the Kokoda Station. Mid afternoon they commenced their walk and have now reached their destination of Deniki where they are spending the night. It would have been a good time to walk to avoid the hottest part of the day.
They will have a chance from Deniki to look back towards Orohaven and realise the height they have already climbed to reached where they are sleeping tonight.
Message received via facebook tonight from one of our porters, Sione Orosambo:
Bos gdnght to you..We jst had dinner and sittn dwn near d fire having coffee. All trekkers gone to sleep so my singing will wake them up tomorrow morning.

MemberThink of trekkers today as they climb, climb, climb, up, up, up to Isurava Village. Locals refer to the climb as 'test mountain'. After reaching this point, they will then move on to Isurava Memorial which is always a highlight of any walk across the Kokoda Trail.
If you want to follow them through our GPS system, please click on the link below:

MemberTrekkers have now reached Eora Creek where they will spend the night. All trekkers are doing well. Tomorrow plan a) is to reach Naduri, plan B) is 1900/Myola Junction. Today they would have crossed this newly erected cane bridge.

MemberThe group are now on the home stretch after walking through Efogi earlier today being the half way point. They are now settled in for the night at Menari Village.
After walking off from Efogi they would have had a climb up to Brigade Hill where no doubt they reflected back on what happened in this area during the war.
Two more nights on the track left so a big day tomorrow as they walk up to Naoro and tackle Maguli Range.

MemberAs planned trekkers were picked up from Owers' Corner on the morning of the 10th May and driven down to Bomana War Cemetery before heading to our based and later to the airport to fly back home.
