There is a story behind this trek. Last year we had a guy by the name of Lionel Jardine come to PNG with the intention of walking to Kokoda and then turning back.
Unfortunately for Lionel he had a setback when he slipped on the first descent from the archway at Owers' and was forced to withdraw his attempt and return to Australia.
In 2012, he booked to do it all over again!
Lionel arrived, walked the track as part of 'Trek 839', spent one day in Kokoda and today commenced his walk in the opposite direction.
Somewhere along the line another trekker decided to join this trek by the name of Jim Denyar who flew over to Kokoda yesterday to link up with him, refer photographs below.

MemberNot long after I made the last post our internet went down and only came back online on Monday afternoon so my apology for not updating until now.
Jim and Lionel made a decision to come out a day early. Last night they spent the night at Sogeri Lodge and this morning I picked them up on my return from dropping off another group of trekkers and tonight they are at Loloata Dive Resort before heading back to Australia.
Turns out Lionel and Jim got on really well and were really happy.
Lionel is REALLY happy as he achieved his dream of a dual crossing, walking over with trek 839 and then returning on trek 866.
Well done to both Jim and especially to Lionel as our first ever trekker who has completed a dual crossing with Kokoda Trekking. He will now join our Hall of Fame having set this record at his own request.
Thanks guys for choosing to walk with us at Kokoda Trekking. We trust you have many memories that will stay with you forever.
