This morning bright and early will see 7 friends head off on another 4-5 hours walk to reach their destination where they will spend the night. When we receive our next radio message we will post so you will know how everyone is travelling.

    Update 5th May, 2005:

Trek 86 – The Private Trek; after spending the night at Kagi, the trekkers decided to head back to Naduri to pay a visit to the oldest living Fuzzy Wazzy, which they didn?t get to meet yesterday, due to the direction they were heading for, so this was a good chance to meet him, and they did so that was good they did.

Anyway, after their brief visit, they headed straight for Efogi 2, and then up to the look-out point where their guide Glen radioed in from the two way radio, briefing us on their where about, everyone?s condition and also the weather report on their side.

He said they are now up at Efogi 2 look-out point heading down to Efogi 1 where they will all have lunch for about an hour before heading up to their next camp site Brigade Hill.
Everyone?s fine and they are all doing ok. The weather is also looking good, they have clear blue sky and the sun?s up again. So that?s good weather report, after all those rainy days, they?ve gone through.

    Update 6th May, 2005:

Trek 86 – The Private Trek. After leaving Efogi 2, the trekkers decided not to proceed on to Brigade Hill, but to spend the night at Efogi 1 and continue from there. This morning they all headed up to Brigade Hill even when the sun was not up yet, which was a good start. They will have enough time to rest when they get to their next camp site. Everyone still doing ok and they are all fine.

Their current location is at Brown River, they will rest there for some good minutes, and then move on to Menari.

All trekkers would like to wish all the mothers.

    ***A Happy Mother?s Day***

Due to Internet sever down; we were not able to update anything on the website. But we thank you all for your time and patients.

These was Trek 86 – The Private Trek?s update on Friday 6th May 2005.

Since it was only 11:30am, the trekkers thought it was too early for them to make a stop at Menari. Instead they decided to proceed on to Nauro, which would roughly take them 4 to 5 hours, depending on how fast or slow they walked, but they all did extremely.

After that long walk out of Menari, the trekkers finally made it to Nauro in no time, no problems; no one was injured or had any accident. The whole lot of them did great, and they are all doing fine.

Even when they arrived after a short while, some of them still had the strength to go play with the kids in the village, while others roamed within the village, with their porter?s to have a look around.

Overall, trekkers, porters and guide are all ok, and they are all doing fine. Weather looks pleasing so that?s good news all together.

Both Russell & myself met up with this group of trekkers at the Gateway Hotel and they all spoke like they thoroughly enjoyed their Kokoda track experience.

Lindon Reed, like myself seemed quite concerned about there being no doctor in Kokoda Hospital and we talked about this at some length.

Glen our Kokoda guide and other porters who accompanied this group returned to Kokoda this morning satisfied that they did all they possibly could to ensure they got their trekkers from the start to the finish line.

Yesterday we drove around Port Moresby the first time porters who had never been out of Kokoda so they too could go back home with lots of stories to tell.

They couldnt believe how fast the cars drove around in Port Moresby and the tall buildings in the CBD.

Before they left this morning 11th May, they thanked me as a group for the chance to work and hoped they would be selected again to walk the infamous Kokoda Trail that they call their backyard.

To the trekkers, Danny, Damien, Lindon, Ross, Sam, Ian & Dan, tks for coming to PNG to walk the Kokoda Trail and for choosing Kokoda Trekking Ltd.

We look forward to welcoming back to PNG Lindon Reed when he returns with his wife and two children next year to walk from Kokoda up to Isurava return.
