MemberTwo trekkers commenced walking from Owers'Corner today as they preferred to walk this direction. Trekkers are:
-
[*]Patrick Bishop
[*]Michael QuinnWe informed them that we would get the other trekkers away then call and collect them and drive them out to Bomana War Cemetery and onto the drop off point at Owers' Corner.
Everything went like clockwork and they guys were dropped around 9:30am.
We heard later this afternoon that they stopped at 'Goodwater' campsite for the night.
The guide for this trek is the fastest man on the trek in both directions, Brendan Buka. From Owers' to Kokoda 16:34, from Kokoda to Owers' via Naduri 17:20. Brendan did not enter this year but has won the event 4 times in the past. Along with them is his brother Moses Buka who came 3rd in our race in 2011.

MemberUpdate Tuesday 18th Sept: Trekkers reached Imita Ridge around 7:30am this morning. They have a tough day ahead of them today as they move towards Naoro. It will depend on how they are doing as their guide may decide to pull up at Ofi Creek for the night or push through to Naoro. A porter has been requested by Patrick who is now walking in from Owers' Corner to catch up with the group later today.
I spoke with him this morning. He is doing ok but common sense prevails and we both agreed a wise choice was made in hiring a guy to carry his pack.

MemberTrekkers have now reached Ofi Creek where they are camped for the night. Tomorrow they will head to Agulogo. The porter we hired from Sogeri caught up with the group at Ua'Ule Creek so all is good and they should start to move forward at a faster rate.

MemberTrekkers are now at Agulogo where they will spend the night. Brendan just tried to call but it dropped out. Today they would have had fun walking through the swamp and depending on conditions out there at the moment may have had trouble seeing their boots in the mud. They also crossed over brown river today so all in all a fun day as they work their way towards Kokoda.

MemberTrekkers have now reached Efogi the half way point. Brendan was going to give them a short day today to Menari but a decision was made that it was too early to pull up for the day they they moved on to Efogi.
Tomorrow they will cross paths with trek 829a heading in the opposite direction. According to Brendan Buka, they are moving along well and today should have stocked up on their food to get them to Kokoda as it was waiting there for them in Efogi.
Picture them as they leave Efogi and head for Lanununu (Efogi II) tomorrow!

MemberReceived a phone call around 3pm to say they had reached their destination for today, being 1900/Myola Junction. Turns out they met up with the trek heading in the opposite direction at Naduri where they all stopped for a bite to each and a cuppa.

MemberTrekkers were destined for Eora Creek today but decided to stop at Templeton's Crossing for the night. All is ok just that it will make it a longer day on the 24th when they walk off the track. Lots of mud today according to Brendan Buka when he called in this afternoon.
