MemberThe women in this group had to be driven back up to Sogeri Lodge so the plan was for them to wait at our base in Boroko until the two trekkers from Popondetta touched down and later after dropping them off at their accommodation the vehicle would be free to drop them back up the mountain.
During the afternoon after we heard the flight had been delayed, the women were driven to Sogeri so they could prepare for their early morning departure today and we arranged with the hotel to pick up the trekkers arriving in from Popondetta.
The photographs below were taken during their time at our base. These women managed to fit in some shopping and sample the local big rooster and chips for lunch.

MemberOne of our porters by the name of Jenen Barai was the lucky guy who got a gift of a bike from Helen his trekker for a good job of helping her walk the track.
Jenen intends to enter a race with the bike during the Kokoda Day celebrations in November.

MemberThanks trek 829 for choosing to walk with us and our KTL boys. All the staff are still here at our base and still talking about how you all got on so well on your trek and last night informed me the trek will go down in their memory as one of the best ever. As some of these boys have walked in excess of 50 times, so its truly special for them to say this.
The boys cannot do this on their own as it took your personalities to make that happen.
Thank you all.
warm regards
Gail and the team at Kokoda Trekking

MemberAt 2am on the night before they walked off the track Debbie Pepper wrote this song:
We've been trekking the Kokoda Track
Trekking the Kokoda Track
Just walked 96km
Trekking the Kokoda Track
My buddy's name is Ramsy
He carried my backpack
He showed me where to put my feet
So I would not fall on my back
We've been trekking the Kokoda Track
Trekking the Kokoda Track
Just walked 96km
Trekking the Kokoda Track
Our porters are our Angels
'If it was not for our porters we would still be on the track'

MemberGreat song Debbie and I hope the boys are still singing it as their singing on the Track is an absolute delight and I hope you had the opportunity of listening to them sing, 'One Pella Mary', it is a favourite of mine and was sung on numerous ocassions on both my treks.
Best wishes
Waza (Treks 83 & 872)
