Wendy Crawford-Brennan arrived in town yesterday and after a short stop over at the Gateway Hotel was driven out to Bomana War Cemetery and then up to Sogeri Lodge where she spent the night.

This morning back at our base, we were all up quite early in preparation to drive out to Sogeri Lodge and pick Wendy up and then head off to Owers' Corner. Everything went like clock work. Paul, his wife Lila, and two guys by the name of Polly and Cyprian busily packed up the troopcarrier and soon we had hit the road.

On arrival at Sogeri Wendy was all but ready except for packing her gear into one of our hired backpacks and it was time once again to climb inside the troopy and head to Owers' Cnr….but not before I took another photograph of a very excited Wendy seen here sitting in the front seat of the troopcarrier!

At Ower's Corner Paul Esiko sorted through the gear with his porters while his wife Lila posed for photographs with Wendy. Lila usually walks a couple of times each year when requested. This time she arrived in town minus a pair of shoes so yesterday we went shopping.

Today she proudly walked off in her 'new' runners. Lila must have felt guilty purchasing a new pair for herself and not her hubby so he too ended up with a pair of KT26's.

It was soon time for photographs under the archway at Owers' Corner before they moved off. I do not know who was more excited, Lila or Wendy as you could not wipe the smiles of either of their faces:

Our food porters for this trek: Cyprian Aire. This guy can fly across the track and always finishes in the top 5 in our Kokoda Challenge Races. His best time is 19 hours + for the 96km race.

Cyprian comes from Ajeka village which is on the way from Kokoda to Popondetta.

Paul called in around 2:30pm to say they had reached Imita Ridge and were about to head down to Ua'Ule Creek where they would spend the night.

I asked how they were all going and he replied that Wendy is ok and that she did it a bit tough so they took her day pack off her and now no worries at all.

Paul Esiko called up around 4:30pm this afternoon to say they were at Maguli Range and were on their way to Naoro. The whole group are doing just fine. Paul's wife was yelling out in the background and it sounded like they were having fun out there on what should be their toughest day!

This trek has now reached Menari Village where they are spending the night. Tomorrow the plan is to walk to reach the half way point of Efogi. If they arrive too early they might push on to Naduri.

Wendy and her team have passed by the Kokoda Gap and are now heading towards Templeton's Crossing area. Well done Wendy, you are now on the home straight, keep up the good work! Wendy is down to walk off the track on the 2nd June so the group have set themselves up well to achieve this.

Trek 796 has now reached Alola Village. It will be interesting tomorrow to see if they spend another night in the bush on the track or head for the finish line in Kokoda. We will just have to wait and see.
