MemberFour trekkers flew over to Popondetta and drove by road up to Kokoda where they spent the night as our guests at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat. This morning they were up bright and early for their first day's walk up to Isurava Village. I am led to believe they got away around 6am and reached their destination shortly after 1pm. All trekkers apparently did really well walking up test mountain and did themselves proud. Trekkers on this trek include :
- Derek Price – walking with Dudley Bubura as his personal porter
- Jeanette Palumbo whose personal porter is Jimmy Buka, brother of the trek champion Brendan Buka
- Aaron Uebergang – carrying their own pack.
- Peter Uebergang – walking alongside Sylvester Tibo
The guide on this trek is Ernst Jinga.

MemberReceived a sat phone call to say the group have reached Eora Creek where they are sharing the site with one other trekking company. The comments were that everyone is well and doing ok. It seems Jeanette is feeling it more then the guys but is hanging in there just a little slower and walking at her own pace. Tomorrow they will head for Myola Junction/1900 campsite where they should run into another trek of ours heading in the opposite direction from Owers' Corner.

MemberTrekkers have now reached 1900/Myola Junction where they will spend the night before walking to Efogi tomorrow, the half way point.
I heard from another of our treks earlier today and the guide said the guys were doing it easy and enjoying themselves. Hopefully Jeanette coming up the rear is thinking the same way as she is still doing it tougher then the guys.
However, the trek is going ahead as per schedule and Ernst Jinga their guide is more then happy with his team of trekkers and porters.

MemberTrekkers have now reached Naoro Village. In Efogi I spoke with Derek and he has placed a special request of BEER, CHIPS AND WINE so they can celebrate the night before heading back to Australia. He sounded pretty pumped up and enjoying his trip with Ernst, our boys and other trekkers.

MemberTrekkers walked off the track today at Owers' Corner but then added another couple of hours to their trek by continuing on to the village of Vesulogo where they decided to pitch their tents and spend the night celebrating their successful trek with their guide and porters. 3 cartons of beer was requested and 1 bottle of wine in an esky so no doubt a good afternoon was had by all of them.
Tomorrow morning they are down for a pickup at 6am. They will then be driven back to Sogeri Lodge.
