Trek 717 – Trek Completed

Met up with trekkers today after they flew into Port Moresby and was going to take a photograph but due to a mixup this morning trying to collect their baggage they were not happy with me for running a little late so it did not happen. I left early enough from where I am living at Sogeri but did not allow for the fact it was a Sunday and hardly any staff around at Sogeri Lodge. Due to the busy month of July and so many trekking companies staying there, door after door was opened trying to locate their luggage.

Finally the staff thought it was down the back in another storage area but they could not find the key so this area had to be broken into only to find no, it was not their baggage but another of our treks on the go.

So back up to the main house we went upstairs to another office room and whew their luggage was finally located. I flew down the mountain but still I missed the trekkers and then found myself waiting at the domestic area when they had in fact walked off to the international area.

All ended well as they got their gear and had plenty of time to book in before their flight to Australia.

My apology for the unexpected delay but there was no point heading down to Port Moresby without your luggage so I just had to wait until it was located and loaded into my vehicle. The lodge no doubt separated all the treks so nothing got mixed up but in the process it was a painful experience this morning trying to find where they had put it. There are not normally so many treks on the go at one time for the lodge so I guess it only added to the confusion.

Trust you all had plenty of time to relax before your flight and that now back with family and friends, you can reflect on your successful Kokoda Trail walk. Well done to all of you.
