Trekkers have now reached 'Goodwater' campsite where they are spending their first night on the Kokoda Trail. At the moment there is a lot of traffic on the track with ourselves and two other major trekking companies all commencing from Owers' Corner on the same day.

IMGP1810__50____640x480_.JPGTrekkers spent last night at Ioribaiwa Village and today Wallace called up from Maguli Range to say they were heading to Agulogo campsite. The guys carrying their packs were feeling the pain with the exception of the two brothers who were doing an ace job of it according to Wallace.
All trekkers are doing well and today will have got one of the hardest days out of the way. Tomorrow they will head down to Efogi the half way point.
IMG_0963__Small_.JPGTonight this group is at 1900/Myola Junction. Apparently one of the Matt's did it tough today but is ok and pulled through. All other trekkers are did really well but all were tired it seems and did not want to do a side trek up to Myola lookout. Tomorrow they will head down to Eora Creek.

SDC10653__640x480_.JPGI heard from Wallace tonight saying they had reached Isurava Village and tomorrow willl walk off the track into Kokoda around midday.
According to Wallace everyone is well and looking forward to finishing in Kokoda tomorrow.

Day_7_Isurava_memorial_view_down_valley__640x480_.jpgNo doubt as I type this, trekkers must be getting excited as they walk towards the Kokoda archway, the finish line!
Trekkers walked off the track around midday today under the archway and into the Kokoda Station ending up at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat where they relaxed during the afternoon. Tonight the filled up on lots of pizza's I am led to believe. Tomorrow they should be back in Port Moresby around 8:30am.
Well done trek 708 – congratulations to every one of you!

Huts.jpgAround 9am this morning trekkers arrived back in from Kokoda where I met up with them. Some decided to stay at various hotels around town whilst others flew back home to Australia and some returned to Sogeri Lodge for the night.
The photograph below was taken at the finish line in Kokoda at the archway erected by the Kokoda Memorial Foundation.
