Boss Meri
MemberOn Sunday we met with this group of trekkers who arrived up from Australila looking all keen and ready for their upcoming trek. They were driven up to Sogeri via Bomana War Cemetery and later in the day spent some time at the Sogeri Kokoda Trail Motel. The photograph below was taken outside the motel just before they went up to the Sogeri Lodge where they spent the night.
Trekkers in this group under the guidance of Shane Thomas are:
Peter Rothwell, Andrew and his wife Jan along with their friend Carl. David Swan finally made it after trying for a couple of years but is now on the track.

MemberCarl met up with his personal porter, Dominic Beaga who we commonly refer to as the 'Herbs Man' due to his ability to put together some bush medicine that seems to fix just about anything such is his reputation. He also arrived in with a nicely carved walking stick for Carl.

MemberThe boys would be lost without their beloved bush knives on any trek as seen here walking with sharpest side pointing up! Sometimes I shudder when I see the way they hold on to their knives but many years later and I am yet to hear of anyone hurting themselves as bush knives are such a part of their everyday life here in PNG and even young kids walk around with them on a daily basis.
