Boss Meri
Member1st July: On the 29th July we said goodbye to two mates who headed out from Owers' Corner. Harold Hauro is the guide for this trek. I have not heard from him today.
Yesterday, he phoned in to say they were all doing ok and that they were spending the night at Ioribaiwa Village. They were going to head to Naoro for the night today but we have heard that the village is quite full with a lot of trekkers on the track. They may have decided to stop this side of Naoro or pushed past the village to another campsite.
Trekkers are made up as follows:
Jeremy Firth and Karan Anand.
A bit of drama before they headed out as Karan's flight was delayed from Cairns. I think Jeremy was panicking a little but all came good and once in town, my son Shane drove them out to Owers' Corner the drop off point.

MemberThanks for the update. My husband (Jas) and I (Amarjit) had a couple of brief calls from Karan on the 30th and 1st, which was great. He mentioned that he would be out to range for till day 7. We would really appreciate some updates on how both the boys are going!
Hey Karan,
It was great to hear from you. Keep at it and enjoy the trek. Hope you can strum a guitar sometimes, did someone get one?
Take care,
Mum and Papa02/07/2010 at 7:13 am #104443tyudianto

MemberHi there, found my way to the site and registered to send a message. What an awesome undertaking. So proud of what you're doing there Jeremy. Very glad you are not doing it alone though, so everyone can keep a look out for each other. Keep safe – you've got a lovely girl waiting for you to help her with the forthcoming new home, and a mum that loves you dearly. xo

MemberUpdate 4th July: Heard from the track that they have now reached 1900/Myola Junction where they spent the night. Today they will walk from 1900 and head to Alola for the night.
Sounds like Jeremy is fairing better then his friend, however after talking to my son Shane who is also at the same campsite with his group, all is ok and they are confident both trekkers will walk off in Kokoda as per plan in a couple of days time.
They are both on the home straight now with Kokoda in sight so no doubt their spirits will be high as they wake up this morning and prepare for the tough climb up to Alola.

MemberUpdate 5th July: Excellent News!!! trekkers have walked off the track today one day in advance of their schedule. So you can be really proud of them.
As I type this, they are already in Kokoda and will soon be at our base, 'Orohaven Kokoda Retreat'.

MemberUpdate 6th July: As I type this, trekkers are having a swim in a local river and doing some rafting with our Kokoda Trekking boys. Last night I believe they tucked in to some pizza's and not sure if it was these guys but someone ordered curry chicken.
After some R & R in Kokoda they will be up early tomorrow morning to drive down to Popondetta to catch their flight back into Port Moresby.
