MemberHi Guys – is Sione on your trek? I have just finished watching "Sione and the PNG Boys" on U-tube and they are just fantastic. The X Factor TV people should be getting hold of them and putting them on Aussie TV, they really have something going there with their music.
Sorry to hear about the damaged leg. Look after yourselves guys and just keep on going – for all of your fan club here in Aus.
Love to you all

MemberHi again, its 5:49 and the chopper pilot has just phoned to say he is about to take off for Eora Creek and informed me he should be back around 7am. However, I was talking to Kokoda before that and was told its raining over there, so here's hoping the pilot can get in to land and pick Peter up. Will try and get a photograph of him if I can to show you he is ok.
Leah I guess will have a lot on her mind today as I have just read comments about Ralph's birthday. She will also be thinking about Peter and of course her Dad. Today is another day, John may even wake up and decide to give it another go but even if he did, he would have quite a few hours to walk to meet up with them providing of course the cramping in his legs did not return.
Will keep you all informed as I hear more later in the day.
Update 7:30am: The chopper returned without Peter as 10 minutes away from the area where he is at was really rough windy weather. They plan to try again around 1pm today if the weather clears.

MemberHi, just logged in after a 'lay day' and am reading though the message with dismay that you have had an injury to your knees. You need a medal for your efforts, Peter, and you gave it your best shot. Now you just have to get home safely. I will be watching for any news throughout the day and hopefully they will be able to get you out of there very soon. Hope you are OK, will attempt to ring Judy to find out more. Love Jane

MemberHI Amanda, notice you are on at the moment. Have just phoned Judy and seems I know more than her at the moment, that the attempt this morning failed. Getting a little concerned but understand that it is so important to have safe air space before attempting to evacuate out. If you hear anything, would you let me know, Love Jane

MemberHello Isaiah and Mrs Engler, Isaiah we are thinking about you all the time. We think you have both done really well. Isaiah you are sensational, we are very proud of you and your mum. It is good to see how much courage you have and that you havent given up. Isaiah you must be very fit to be the first one in each day.
We went to see Andy Griffiths yesterday he is funny as. I didnt think hes that funny, Mrs C. He tells really good jokes and we got to buy a book. We hope that you dont hurt yourself and that you reach Kokoda safely. We hope that you continue to have a wonderful time and that you dont see any snakes.

MemberUpdate 1:10pm. Still no luck as black clouds surround the area where Peter has to be picked up. With helicopters they have to remain visual so this is the problem we are facing at the present time. Another option we are considering is carrying him off the track. If the chopper does not go back for a second attempt we will arrange for 12 boys to go in and carry him out. 6 on, 6 off resting until we get him down off the track. Now won't he have some stories to tell when he gets back home!

MemberUpdate 1:15pm Have just spoken to Paulo who informed me he is presently between Isurava Memorial area and Isurava Village heading back down off the mountain with the trekkers. He also confirmed that Peter is still at Eora Creek along with our guide Trevor Jinga. He said it rained last night and that the weather was still not that good today. I passed on his phone number to the chopper pilot and will phone him in a few minutes to get an update on the group as a whole.

MemberUpdate 1:30pm: The chopper pilot has just spoken to Russell and my son on the ground in Kokoda along with Paulo up on the track and has decided to give it another go.
ok, an update on the other trekkers. Roughly an hour ago they had a service at Isurava and the group left for Isurava Village and then on down to Deniki to meet up with John who decided today to stay put and wait for the group. Leah and Isaiah are out in front the last time Paulo saw them. He is the personal porter for Paul Fraser.
In relation to music, they do not have Sione but they do have Tommy Bareo who is not a singer but a good guitar player relying on the other guys to add the vocal to his music. As for Sione, trekkers comment often that on the track out in the bush, his music is fantastic. When they are struggling he is still singing and playing his guitar. He loves gospel music. His cousin sister is now married to an Australian and lives downunder but together their music was magical.

MemberHi Gail,
Great job you are doing keeping us all informed with up to the minute information. Thank you very much. I'm in Perth, working at my workstation with your site up and keep checking for news of my brother. You are so right that he will have plenty of stories to tell of his LAST trip to the Kokoda Track. If the decision is to carry him out, then the memories of the Fuzzy Wuzzi Angels in WWII will have a new meaning. I have my fingers crossed all involved in this evacuation will be OK. Thanks again, Jane (Peter's sister)
