    Hi Dad,

So sorry to hear about your knee. Mum phoned earlier to tell me what was happening. The first thing I said to her was that you must be in a hell of a lot of pain cause you wouldn't have finished early unless you absolutely had to.

    Hope you're OK.

    Love,
    Amanda

Update 5:15pm – Have just received confirmation that the chopper is in the air heading out to try and pick Peter up. I have to head down to their hangar at 6:15 to see if they got him ok or if they have to try again tomorrow morning.

As for John, he got away from Orohaven around 6:45am this morning and should now be at Isurava Village. At this stage he will be thinking the group is at Alola whereas due to Peter we are suspecting the group as a whole would have stopped at Eora Creek. However, once down low its hard for them to get a signal out on the sat phone without climbing up again so no communication with them since I got the phone call to have him picked up from Eora Creek.

If the chopper returns with Peter, we will head straight to the Pacific International Hospital so he can be checked out by a doctor ASAP. Will keep you updated as soon as I know more.

Update 6:45pm. Chopper pilot saw that the weather had changed after he put in his flight plan so cancelled. He is going to try at first light tomorrow morning.

Update 7:00pm. Brendan Buka phoned to say that John tried to walk up Isurava test mountain but developed leg cramps so returned to Deniki where he said he will now wait for Leah and the group to arrive sometime tomorrow.

Brendan being the trek champ he is, offered to take off and walk to Eora Creek to inform Trevor to have Peter ready for the chopper to pick up tomorrow morning. For the majority of us this would take hours but for Brendan Buka its a walk in the park. In the race he took off from Kokoda at 7am and was at Eora Creek at 9:30. Most trekkers take several hours from Kokoda to Isurava Village.

    Hi Leah, Isaiah and Bronco

Sorry to hear Peter has hurt his knee – hope all will be OK for him. It sounds as though he put in a great effort despite his injury.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow for Darryl's birthday. We might just have a beer for him – and one for you too!

Keep up your fantastic work – we are all looking forward to seeing you.

I will phone Carmel tonight – I think Lib is coming over on Thursday afternoon.

    Love Helen, John and girls

Hi Leah,Isaiah & Bronco. Today we celebrated Angus's 6th Birthday by going ten pin bowling and HJ's. He was very happy with the green machine. I know tomorrow will be an emotional day for Darryl's birthday, I will be thinking of you all and wish I was there to give you a hug. I will have a beer after work to reflect. Looking forward to watching the final days of the trek.
    so proud of you all.

love Nicole, Shane, Myles & Angus
