MemberUpdate 8th September: Good news, Peter is now at Orohaven having been carried off the track today. I spoke to him and he said it was quite an experience. He sounded really happy and in good spirits despite having been stuck at Eora Creek for two nights. Tomorrow a fixed wing aircraft will fly over to pick him up leaving here around 6:30am. Peter mentioned his daughter and son-in-law will fly back in with him.
As for the others on this trek, from the noise it appears they enjoyed their celebrations at our base Orohaven and would no doubt be sleeping right now as they will have to wake up and travel by road down to Popondetta to catch their flight back to Port Moresby. There is 9 seats in total on the Cessna Caravan so if any of them want to join Peter instead of the drive, there will be 6 other seats that can be filled.
I am led to believe lots of pizza's were eaten today by both trekkers and porters!

MemberWell done to all, we followed your progress and are impressed with the efforts of all involved.
The few pictures probably don't do justice to the terrain covered so we're waiting for your return and all the stories.
Talking about porters, Jack wondered if everyone was too lazy to carry their own gear

MemberCongratulation Team Ralphy!!!!
You are an inspiration to all of us still back home. Leah, I am so happy you got to live out your dream and share this moment with your family & some of your closest friends. I know Ralphy would have been watching you all as you achieved your daily goals and would have been so proud of you all.
I have shed many a tear reading through the updates and posts on this site, words can not express how much we miss him and you have all honored his memory on what should have been his special day.
Love you all

A special welcome home to Peter, glad you made it back at least half way home. Hope your injuries are not too serious and you are back bushwalking in no time. Now, don't do it again, promise.

MemberUpdate 9th September: No doubt you have heard that they are all safe and sound back in Port Moresby including Peter. Its been an interesting day which started for me with a 5:30am start to go to the airport to make sure the aircraft left for Kokoda to pick up Peter.
Despite being put down for a 6am start, it was delayed for awhile and finally got airborne an hour or so later. On arrival back in Port Moresby I met with them and drove them to the Pacific International Hospital where Peter underwent several tests.
Whilst this was going on over in Popondetta I advised the trekkers waiting for their aircraft that their aircraft had a technical problem and was in the hangar and that the flight was delayed. By the time they departed and were on their way to Port Moresby Amy phoned and said they were ready for a pickup in 10 minutes therefore I headed back to the hospital to pick them up only to find out that 10 minutes had grown into PNG time. Another trip to the airport but no sign of the group but one security guard convinced me they had arrived and had caught the courtesy bus to the Gateway Hotel. This ended up to be false but I ran into Peter's son-in-law who I had dropped off earlier shortly after their arrival from Kokoda.
Back to the hospital we went and this time we were lucky enough to pick up Peter and Amy. Once again back to the airport when this time it turned out to be correct, we had missed them and the Gateway Hotel bus had driven them up to the hotel. By the time we arrived most of them had already left for Loloata but I managed to meet with a few of them before dropping off Paul and returning back to our office.
I will try my best to catch up with the group before they depart for Australia.

MemberHave just returned from the airport after saying goodbye to the group who came in from Loloata today. When I ran into them they were in the line waiting to be served at the book in area of the international terminal building. They remarked they all had a good time at Loloata and loved the food.
On behalf of Kokoda Trekking, many thanks for choosing to walk with our KTL boys.
kind regards
Gail, Russell and the KTL boys!
